Seven weeks is way too young to bring a yorkie home. Hope all goes well for you but the breeder should of let your puppy go at twelve weeks or more. Susan

This is an old thread started in 1/11/2009 and ended 1/12/2009

A new OP (arlene Baker) made a comment on 1/19/2018 #17 read from there and you will see why this pup was gotten at a young age.

Are you referring to my dog screaming post? My dog who just turned two and was rescued at 9 weeks and was thrown around between multiple homes before 9 weeks when I got him? My dog who has separation anxiety because of leaving his mom to early and being thrown from home to home because he was to much work? My dog that has two almost three trick titles and is doing agility? Are you referring to that dog? Might want to make sure you have the whole story. I'm saddened that bad breeding means nothing to you but don't worry one day you will get it and understand it when you have to watch a dog that has stolen your heart suffer because the breeder didn't care!

Default separation Anxiety

well I do not understand that separation anxiety thing as my sister keeps telling me to quit giving Lucy so much attention that she will get that ,now you are saying it is from taking her from her mother to soon,I will have to read up on that,as I do not want to see Lucy go thru that . My niece adopted a border collie that had that but when my niece would leave in in the car for 5 minutes she tore the inside of the car up, in that short of a time she did huge amount of damage, while my niece was at work, she loves animals and was really trying to help this one, but she just couldn't keep her very sad, and she was a vet tech at the time

The things I told you are things that can happen with puppies taken to soon not necessarily will happen but one cause of separation anxiety is them being to young but there are other causes too. I could not tell you if my little guys issues where from being thrown from house to house before 9 weeks or leaving his mom to young or both. He would get in the shower with whoever was watching him because he didn't want to be alone even if he has toys in the bathroom right outside the shower. I would really love to help you with any questions you have and I love helping people but I felt your one post was really nasty maybe I just read it wrong but it felt like you were telling me I shouldn't be giving out advise if I have my own issues and that was a bit hurtful. Most of the stuff I give advice about is because I have experienced it or learned in great detail about it. I'm not just some stupid poster on a message forum. I have three yorkies my oldest has been through heck and back because of bad breeding and I just want to help people so they can avoid some of the things I have seen and gone through. Looking in her eyes when she is suffering and there is nothing I can do breaks my heart and makes me very mad about bad breeding. I love my dogs very much and none of them came from good breeders. I didn't know any better with my oldest and my other two were rescues that came from people who didn't want them anymore. I also am a certified vet assistant. I'm sorry if I got nasty with you and hurt your feelings like you hurt mine I was just trying to honestly help.

Default Thanks

I love hearing things about yorkies so any info is important to me. I have never had a yorkie before , I am not sure what kind of breeder I got my yorkie from really, I just know the dad was a yorkie and the mama was a cute yorkie, I know she loves animals and that she kept her mama well groomed, by the groomer. The one thing I did notice was the house was not that clean and they were still in a swimming pool that was not that clean. I was very glad that I could get Lucy as soon as she called me. she told me they were already weaned and were eating good on there own' When I brought Lucy home she was so happy to have her own little bed and her clean little place . she never cried at all for her mama and siblings, and I am very impressed at how smart she is so I think she will be o.k. sorry if I came across nasty, but I was catching so much fuss about how old she was when I brought her home we are in our seventy's and was not going to get another dog after our sweet Gracie died in May, but oh so glad my niece found this little one for us,she is the sweetest, fiesty bundle of energy!

I just have to say Yorkietalk is a place to help one another. I still think and know your baby was way too young to go home with you. I am glad it is working out for you. The one that is giving all the advice is not trying to hurt you she is just trying to tell you some yorkie facts. All honest yorkie owners have problems not just her. I have had my share of health things and thanks for everyone helping me and I am not a breeder. I love the yorkie breed and I give lots of credit to the breeders on this site that show and breed these little guys for improvement to the breed. I had a yorkie like you at seven weeks and she had separation anxiety and genetic index from a dysfunctional breeder. I hope you never have to go through what I went through and luckily we had our dear Keally for twelve and a half years. We spent a lot on her and I know as a fact a lot of people would of gave her away or killed her. We loved her so much. Anyways I am not chewing on you just telling you even though some of us have problems we are still there to help you. Susan

I think we both know it wasn't a good breeder but that's been said enough. I would look into pet insurance that covers genetic issues and do that. I did it as soon as I got my youngest two. I pay $52 a month for 2 from healthy paws. Yorkies are prone to several issues and even more so if the breeder was bad and didn't do testing and know their lines really well. I paid thousands upon thousands for all of my older girls genetic issues and didn't have insurance on her which is one of the reasons I got it on my younger two.

Yikes that poor mama dog is lucky she didn't need a c-section. Its so dangerous to breed females under 5 pounds. I don't know what that breeder was thinking but I hope she stops breeding.

Oh Boy! What a dysfunctional breeder breeding a four pound yorkie. I hope you spay your little baby and learned some stuff about purchasing a yorkie. On the last post she recommended buying insurance and I think it would be wise for you to buy it. Well best wishes with your yorkie ! Susan
