| Sounds more like a rescue to me. Under the circumstances and living conditions this wee lil pup was living in, I would have done the same thing in your shoes. To me, that is a rescue. Let me make this very clear to all that may read this thread, NO, taking a 5 week old puppy from it's mother is not what should be done, and, in the USA it is against the law to sell a puppy under 7 weeks old. It's also very dangerous to take a puppy that young, dangerous for the puppy. But, sometimes you run into situations like arlene Baker where taking a wee lil baby home is safer then leaving it in filthy living conditions where the puppy is left in a filthy kiddie pool with big dogs running about. Sounds like this baby is more then well cared for, and living in clean quarters and loved much. Sounds like this lil baby is doing very well. We would LOVE to see pics of baby Lucy. To post pics to YT they must be 200KB or under I upload my cell pics to my computer in a picture folder below is a free down sizing site that I use, i have included the instructions. Resize Photos Online - The Free and Easy Way to Shrink Photos and Compress Jpeg Pictures Open resize photo on line 1-Top of page CLICK resize photo 2-STEP 1-Select photo double click to open 3-STEP 2 change pixels to 600 set QUALITY to 65 % 4-Click up load and resize photo (this may take a while) when it finishes 5-Click apply setting and generate photo 6-Click down load image 7-Click on SAVE this will save in your download folder I use the settings of # 3 you can then post a pic on YT

| Hi I personally wouldn't leave a 7 week old pup on its own for 8 hour's, I have 3 dogs and wouldn't leave them 8 hours without arranging a son/friend/neighbour to pop in and out or a dog sitter, 7 weeks is way to early for a pup to leave its mum, she would only just be weaning, puppies are lovely but I would consider that you wouldn't leave a baby on its own without a minder. After getting someone to pop in and out you could also get a baby monitor to look at on your mobile, have you had a dog before |

Yorkie Talker | not sure who you are taking to but our puppy Lucy will NEVER be left alone for any amount of time as we are both retired and home all the time one of us is always home' I feel like no one should get a puppy while they are working all day. how can a puppy learn anything that way |

| I was actually commenting on the original poster's comments regarding 7 week old puppy being left alone while they went to work, you say you collected your puppy at 5 weeks, not the best situation but if the little one has managed to make it to 7 weeks and your with her all the time I'm sure you are doing everything right, if she's eating and drinking and she's seen the vet the chances are Lucy will do very well. As its been pointed out to you her inoculations shouldn't be carried out before 8 weeks and even then the vet will only do it if she/he is satisfied she's healthy weight wise and in body. I know through working with rescues that sometimes mum will abandone her pups for no apparent reason and its no good forcing her as that can lead to her attacking them and even killing them. I'm glad your furbaby has a good caring home and it would be a good idea when she is all safe about 12 weeks to take her to a puppy socialising class Last edited by Mirendou; 01-21-2018 at 02:20 PM. |

| Not to beat a dead horse, the deed is done, I am sure the OP did not go looking for a 5 week old puppy. This unscrupulous person will breed regardless if this OP bought this dog or not. Why not take this baby out of filthy living conditions where it is not getting love and attention and could get trampled from these big dogs. This puppy is now clean, living in clean conditions, eating quality food and being loved and spoiled as she should be. You have over emphasized the reason a puppy should be with the momma, OP gets it, you are a very knowable member, why not share your knowledge about caring for a wee little baby instead of repeating the reason why it is best a puppy stay with it's momma. It was not the best thing to do in this situation, sounds like that pup would not have lived to see 12 weeks old. Under these circumstances even tho money was exchanged I see it as a rescue, that's my opinion. This community is about helping and sharing our knowledge and experence, how bout we do that.

| Point well made Taylor. Can we just move on and hopefully watch this little baby grow and thrive, and be there for the OP if she should need the communities advise, suggestions in the future.

I believe that is why you received this message. I see you met the usual quota, try uploading your pic again. If you get the same message you may need a few more posts. Looking forward to seeing baby Lucy
