| Why can't she just tell me she needs to go? I am so frustrated with KaCee right now! She knows that she is supposed to go outside to potty and does great about 95% of the time now. I try to let her and A.J out about every 2 hours or so or whenever A.J lets me know that he needs to go. The problem is that KaCee will not do anything to let us know she needs to go! No sniffing, no circling, none of the "usual" signs. She just runs off and does her thing. She knows that she's done something wrong and she almost always gets a treat when she's gone outside. I need some suggestions for how to get her to let me know she needs out. When I was potty training A.J, he started to bark at me and run back and forth to the door to get my attention. I gave him treats and praise for this so this is what he does to let me know he needs to go out. It would be nice if KaCee would pick this up from him but apparently that's not going to happen. I just don't know what I should be doing to get some kind of reaction out of her.

| I noticed my yorkie was having the same trouble. however, one day i left his leash on the floor and when he needed to go he started jumping all around his leash. Now i leave it on the floor by the door (trying to train him to go near the door to let me know) and he is doing really well. not a proven method but might help |

| Positive reinforcement is what worked for both of mine. You said you give treats when she goes outside. I would stick to that. Really a lot of praise and petting and treats when she does it right. Hang in there she will get it!

| Most likely she got her own tell like a spin or a look and you have yet to pick up on it. It takes time and sometimes it not easy to do sometimes to read thier body language. If the bell did not work try something else like one on the floor lilke the bell when you ring for service at a front desk. JL

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | This is what I did when I was training. I took them out hourly and after they ate. If he had an accident I told him Bad Boy, he knew it was wrong and he stopped doing it. Some don't like to tell them bad boy, but it worked for me. So taking him out so often he learned that he had to go outside. Then once there were no accidents I extended the times I would take him out. Now my baby will still not bark or anything like that to tell me. He will jump up on my lap and just stare at me. Or if he sees me walking around he will run towards the door. Sometimes he just does this because he hears something and just wants to go outside. But I do have him on a schedule so he can't do that to me anymore. They are very smart. Keep working with him, it can take yorkies up to two years to be fully trained. |
