| Sirius Dog Training Is there anyone in the Bay Area that took classes at Sirius? Did you think it was worth it? Is it expensive? Should I just buy the DVD's he offers and try to teach her more myself. She learns quick and fast but sometimes she doesn't like to listen, so I thought maybe some dog training classes would be good. Any input would be great! Thanks Including some books, videos, other classes I could take.

| milu took the sirius puppy I class, you can see some of her class pictures in my album: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/album.php?albumid=2854 i thought the class was pretty good overall. the cost was $200 for 6 classes. they will give you the online book which you are supposed to read....i didn't...i am BAD!!!! i would recommend the class, just make sure that there are not too many dogs in the class you signed up for. there were way too many dogs in the class i signed up for. if i were you, i would ask them how many dogs are going to be in the class, and tell them you don't want to sign up if too many dogs are going to be in that class. i think it's more expensive then the other dog training classes, but they had a large room which was nice. i don't know about other dog classes, hopefully others on here will be able to share their experiences.

♥My Lil' Monkey Girl♥ Donating Member | I actually tried the Petsmart training and it was like 6 or 7 (believe it was 7) but anyway it was about 130.00 for the classes and it was great. My baby learned things from the first night and was doing sooo great. But i also believe it has to do with the trainer as well, not exactly the location you go to.

| I am going to assume that it Ian Dunbars gang at sirus and they should know there stuff and I would hope it all postive based. Ian is the godfather of dog training and one of the few that started APDTA. I check it out even if it is Ians gang and go once without the dog and if I felt comfortable go for it.. if not go look else were. JL

how many dogs to a class do you think is too many? i think we had 15 dogs in our one hour class. and i think that's way too many for one trainer. don't you think? what do you think is a proper dog/instructor ratio? yup, it is ian dunbar's gang. what's APDTA? thanks!

it's really a balancing act. although i do think that you can get a bad trainer and have a bad experience with a puppy training class. a lot of it is also the puppy owner's responsibility to make sure they get most out of these classes. like doing homework is probably as important as going to the classes. what do you think? or do you think it's really worth the time to make sure you are getting the best trainer possible? thank you!

for the sirius puppy class, you can have one dog in the class, but you can have as many people from the family attend as you like, because it's important that everyone in the house learns how to train the puppy, and that everyone is doing the same commands, hand signals, as to not to confuse the puppy.

I totally agree with bad experinces with dog trainers I have a list of bad ones and bad moments as long as 5 years. Take what you can toss out what you can not. You can still call and voice a thought even if it only makes you feel better and in the long run you may just help another dog by voicing it. JL

| Thank you everyone for your feedback. Sorry I took long to respond, I spilled milk on my laptop I'm definitely going to get her into some classes and I'll definitely check out the Sirius dog training some more.
