Question Potty Training problems

Hello everyone, I am new here, first time posting, I have a yorkie her name is Zoey, she is around 17 weeks old, got her at 12 weeks, she is awesome we love her to death, but i think the place we got her she had the run of the house, eat when she wanted, pooped and peed where she wanted, well you know... we get her and at first she wouldn't eat then we got her to eat, now she does go potty outside, but she goes inside also, recently over the last week or so she would go poop outside then come in and go poop? and same with pee.. is there something i can do my husband is getting a little grossed out lol
I also haven't trained her to sit, stay, come etc.. she is starting to bite we tell her NO then give her a chew toy.. its not working now.. i also have little ones she is starting to chase ( in a playing way) and grab the bottom of there pants.. i just want it to stop and have her behave is there anything i can do or something you can suggest?? thanks in advance..

Hello, Sorry no one responded to you. It is a great site, I have learned a lot from it. Have you tried the wee wee pads. That is what we use and it works great. If she doesn't go right to the pad, try using the housebreaking aid spray (can get it at any pet store), it makes them want to go there. As for the training of the commands, we have sit down, but stay and come are still a work in progress. Someone suggested training them on a leash so you have more control in the beginning, I am gonna try that. Hope that helps.

I don't have a lot of potty training advice we are just starting to get over that issue with our 5 month old male. But as far as the biting thing Wrigley did that A LOT when he was getting ready to lose his teeth. He has gotten much better with it now that most of his new teeth are in. They are kind of like babies where they want to chew on something all of the time when getting new teeth.

Hi. I'm pretty new here too so i'm probly not the most educated on all things puppy but i'll try to help. Walker just turned 12 weeks and he is a potty training angel. so potty training i can't help much with. But when it comes to the pant leg thing i feel you, Walker does it too. I've tought him to sit and whenever he starts attacking legs we say no, then have him sit and give him a treat for sitting. He's stopped attacking our legs unless we're actually playing with him, we're still working on that. I've also heard that squirt guns may help. best of luck.

My sophie is 18 weeks old and it has been a challenge here and there. I think the puppy pads would be good. I am a little extreme and try to watch when she drinks a lot, because I know she will have to go soon, then maybe try to encourage going on the puppy pads, maybe put 2-3 together, as they sometimes miss. Just a recommendation, maybe puppy class might help, as it will help you teach commands and will always help you to keep their attention when there are distractions.

My puppy is 5 months old and we've trained him on the pee pads and to go outside. We began with the puppy pads and at first he didn't understand to go outside. After a couple of weeks (with lots of praise and positive reinforcement), he started going outside. He still does use the pee pads when inside (with the occasional misses). You really have to have your eye on him at all times when he's inside the house. Try to catch him before he goes or during the movement. Make a sharp noise followed by a "no" and direct him outside or onto the pee pads. If you're training him to go outside, take him outside every couple of hours (especially after he's eaten, woken up from a nap, playing, etc.). Repeat the steps for the puppy pads. Yorkies and other toy breeds seem harder to potty train. You might also want to consider crate training to prevent accidents.

As for the biting, it's something that all puppies go through. You can try sound aversion. Fill up a can with pennies and shake it when he bites. The noise will startle him and you praise the wanted behavior. Immediately redirect to a chew toy. My puppy loves Merrick's Flossies and Bully sticks to chew.

Chase is not perfectly housebroken yet either. Just keep it consistent and optimistic. Hope this helped somewhat . Good luck!

Default biting legs

Hi, Lily was really into the dragging on my housecoat or pant legs, but then she did it with a client in my office. Not cool. I got her one of those rope toys at petsmart and we redirect her with that, and play tug for ten minutes or so a day. I'm not sure why but with the firm no, and then redirect with her rope or a ball to chase, she has almost 95% stopped. As for potty training,,,sigh...I am really frustrated. Lily is seven months and I take her outside every two hours (she goes to work with me). She still has accidents when I'm not looking. This week she is tied to me with a leash - NO free time in the house loose and I praise her like the divine incarnated when she potties outside. Not sure how this will work but will keep you posted. I love her so much but will NOT have a dog peeing or pooping in my house and office. I have to resolve this. Do people get their yorkies potty trained ever??????

I use "time outs" and toys to redirect if she is doing something I don't like and won't stop. Just a couple minutes in the crate. By herself, where she can't see me. It helps me

Question My Method

What has helped me out a lot as using the training pads, was to put them down in all the places where Victoria would used the bathroom or where I thought she would go, then as time went on I just would take one pad out at a time, and now I only leave one pad out and she would use that.
I learned that if I got mad at her, she got more scared and then would just go anywhere, so I decided to not to get mad but be accommodating to her and be more helpful to her to know that using the pads were better than peeing/pooping on the floor, once she got used to peeing on the pads in the places where she went, she began to recognize the pads and knew that I wasn’t going to get mad at her, but give her lots of praise and saying “good girl” which she likes more then treats.
I thought that I getting a new puppy was a mistake and was ready to get rid of her, but everyone said that she was a smart puppy and just help her to know, what I wanted her to do. So far she has been doing good, but she might only use the pad twice then you have to change it out or else. I work a lot so i put a new pad before I leave in the morning, then I come home for my lunch break and check to see if had gone sometimes she has and sometimes not, then when I get home I usually have to change it out and put a new one down, but it also depends on how much I feed her also.

Default Bitting Problem Solution

My little guy is just shy of 12 weeks old. Whenever he puts his mouth on me I let out a quick high pitched yelp like what would happen if he bit his litter mates too hard. I've noticed that he's very careful around me now and will now play with out mouthing or nipping.

Hope that helps.

My baby girl is 5 months old, and never could get her to go on a pee pad, which was my firt choice in potty training, she would eat the plastic and play with it. So I take her outside, I'm really good about taking her out because she never goes to the door.I stand out there until she does her business, but I live in Michigan and it's raining and going to snow to night. It's going to be a long winter, any suggestion on getting her to go on pee pad?

My puppy is 11 weeks and is doing well with going peep outside. I take her out a lot, but not so good with the poop. We live in Michigan too so the weather is not so good. I think maybe I don't wait enough time outside for her to go poop because of the bad weather. She is asking to go in too. Any thought?
