| I just got Lizzy and she is 11 weeks old. She is doing fine with potty training. I a new mom but Lizzy doesn't seem to be too young. I have been told that Yorkies are either really easy or really hard to train. I started keeping Lizzy in a cardboard box for about 2 weeks now I leave her out in my room with the door closed at night as she still lets me know when she has to go out. I don't really have any more advise but to keep trying and don't give up! |

I Love My Babies Donating Member | Since she is little.. she needs to go out more. At least once an hour. It is a lot of work... but it is soooooooo worth it. Take her out a couple of minutes after she eats or drinks, as soon as she wakes up from any nap and during the night. Her bladder is not big enough to hold much. Do you have training pads down too? So, she can go on them if she gets to playing too hard and has to pee?

| I do have pads down and we put her on it A LOT when shes not in the crate... So i guess i should have asked how long can I expect her to stay in the crate and remain dry?? Only an hour?

I Love My Babies Donating Member | I also have a huge crate. I know that this is not how you are supposed to do it. But it worked for me with Sandy and TJ. There is enough room in it for a bed, and a potty pad area. If I have to go somewhere and can't take my baby.. he/she goes in it. If they have to pee before I get back.. there is a place to do it. So the bed stays nice and clean and the potty pad can be removed and replaced if it gets soiled. Good luck with training your baby. Be patient and consistent... It will be worth it.

I Love My Babies Donating Member | Can you take her outside? I took TJ out every hour. They usually poop about the same time every day. When you figure that out.. it will help you a lot. you will know when to start looking for the signs and taking them out. Be sure to praise her whenever she goes where you want her to. Use a cue word.. potty or whatever you decide to use. They get the idea fairly quickly. Hope this helps some.

How often is he drinking. I don't think he needs to be drinking all the time. But after he does eat and drink you need to take him out as well as every hour. My baby is now 3 and is potty trained, doesn't even need the crate anymore. Good Luck! | |
