| Severe Anixety - Reaching New Levels I need some help or advice with Roxy. She is going to be 4 years old. She truly does have Severe Anxiety Issues. She always had, but it is getting worse. Here are things that she does: Under stress, which is while preparing 'her' meals, she does laps. They can be big laps around a couple of rooms, or lapping the table, or even just a 12 inch area. She will get faster and faster when she knows I am almost done. She fear bites (getting better though) when I am getting her ready for walks, or car trips. She will also do this if I bring out my suitcase and I am packing. She will do laps if I have been gone from her for many hours and I just got home, but I have to run upstairs for something. This sets her off and she goes into "Indie 500" mode. And last but not least - Under stress she pees and poops. She used to run to the pee pad (or the nearest throw rug ~ which I now pick up). But now it has come her peeing on the Couch or pretty much Anywhere she happens to be at the 'stress moment' (I have figured out that 'if' we get packages delivered and someone is knocking at the door, this makes her pee in places). She also pees by the water bowl Please Someone Guide Me ~ I can't have this go on, I need help in calming her anxiety. |

| Oh, I wish I had some advice for you. I did see an episode of The Dog Whisperer once and the dog did the lap thing you are describing, but I can't remember how they corrected it. I wonder if you go on their site or google, if you could find it. I'm so sorry and I hope you get some help and advice for her!

Have a look at the link and see it a behaviour person is in your area and if not try to travel. Directory of Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists - 2008 — Animal Behavior Society: Applied Animal Behavior I not sure that without a little relaxation that desensitzation program is going to help and as it fear and anxiety most dog trainers are going to be out of thier area of know how. Right now eveything needs to be slow and gentle. List of dog trainers in you area as well Truly Dog Friendly » Truly Dog-Friendly Trainers JL

| Thank you for this links. I know she needs work, and I am willing to try and help her. I do not think she can take drugs though She has liver issues MVD and I just don't know if it would be safe. I am going to look at the info you provided. I also thought about trying Clicker Training with her |

I can get you some good starter books but it going to take time to get up on anxiety and working clicker to help it. My little one is an fear mess and we have good and bad days and my behaviour person is a god send. Drugs.. do not rule them out as they can us natural stuff and it even more important if she has health issuses to see a vet/behaviour person rather then just a trainer. Hang in and call the big guys and Pm me I can get you started on some good books for clicker... oh I think though if your going to go clicker to make sure you start with a quiet one. Some make a loud sound and you can soften it with tape. I also look into Telligton touch for helping calm and an anxiety wrap. JL

Thank you. I will definite call a behaviorist and see what this will entale. I do have the clickers already, as I tried to train both TJ and Roxy a few years ago. The problem with Roxy is that she is so high strung and only focused on the 'treat' that I just couldn't get her to sit Since then, I have taught her "Give Mommy a Kiss" and I try to make her do this when I see her gone into 'freak out mode'. I have a feeling this is going to be a lot of work, I just hope it is not too late to help her (I am willing to do what I can to make her better) | |

| Love to hear someone is willing to work to help a dog that so scared... ok one book that will help you talk to her with her lanaguage and it a great book On Talking Terms With Dogs: Calming Signals by Rugass. It will teach you dog signals like lip lick and yawn that will help you tell her to calm donw baby it ok. Yes it going to take time but it may not take as mush as your thinking in the right hands... only clicker or postive for fear. JL
