| consistent It is hard at first to get them to stay in. THeir hair is slippery, and because it is a new feeling to them, they try to get them off. As mine has gotten older-6 mths to now 8 mths, it stays in all day and even at night. I use the doggy rubber bands. Or, I also bought an assortment of child hair rubber bands at Target lots of colors and cheaper). Pull the hair up and triple wrap the rubber band around your right hand fingers-fore and middle. Then put on. It does take some practice. Then once I have that one I put the bow over top of the rubber band. I use the bows that are clips, not the elastic banded ones. I have also found the barrettes at target or walmart for babies work too. But they do need to have prongs on them, or they do not stay in. Hope that helps. You need to do it everyday when you brush them, and after awhile they do not mind at all. COnsistency is the key! Well worth it. Gives them flair! |

| I wait until Maggie goes down for a nap and then I do her hair up. Sometimes after I brush her out, she will sit still long enough for me to band her hair. I usually put something on her every day. and if comes out while they are playing, I put it back in. I will take them out at night (both Hot Rod and Maggie) Hot Rod is a year old and he will sit still for me to band his hair. Good luck.

| I decided I wanted to try bows out with Zoe. I wanted to try first with baby bows (small investment in case it didn't work out), all they had were little baby claws. So fretted a bit when I put it in, pawed at it but they didn't budge and she didn't seem to mind after a bit. But the 2 times I've put them in (they've stayed on most of the day, taken off for naps in the crate, and it was never put in tight) she seems to have a knot (skin not hair) on the top of her head and it's really painful for her. Not sure if it's worth the bother for her, unless I'm doing something wrong. Looking forward to others' suggestions, sorry I can't provide any myself. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Lol, since this is the training forum, I thought you wanted to know how to teach a dog to bow, you, know sounds like bowel, where they put there head to the ground. Since your taking about bows, this link has some great suggestions for training your dog to accept bow, and tips on how to get the bow to stay in place. The Diva-Dog Bowtique
