| Is this really helping? We have been having a horrible time with Harley and his potting lately. He will use his potty pad all day while we are at work, but does not want to once we get home (he does NOT get taken out of the house to potty). If we go into the bathroom with him, he will lay in the floor, lay on his potty pad, look at us like we are crazy until we will let him out (we will stay in there with him for at least 10-15 minutes.) If we put him in the room by himself to go potty he will pee right in front of the door and then lay in it and bark until we let him out, at which time he runs full force from the bathroom leaving a trail behind him. My husband started putting the pad right in front of the door and leaving him by himself. He does go on the pad, only because it is under him. Is this really helping him to use the pad while we are home or is this just helping us to not have to clean up a mess. Also I wonder if since he stays in the bathroom while we are at work if taking the pad out once we get home might help that way he doesn't think we are leaving again? Sorry so long, thanks in advance for any help. Jeri and Harley |

| Outside is best Hello Welcome: Tell me why you don't let him out of the house to potty. It really is the best solution. The pee pads really should be the last resort due to rain or snow etc. We let Bigos out every hour on the hour to potty in the backyard. He has learned very quickly where to go. I hope it works out. |

| Harley does get to go out to play, but in all the time that he has been out, he just will not go potty outside. I think outside is still just too new and he wants to explore other than potty. Between the time that I leave for work and my husband gets home he spends about 7 hours at home by himself, so the pee pad is what he has to use for most of the time that he is awake. He sleeps in a crate in our room and night and since about two weeks after we brought him home he hasn't gotten up during the night. |

Yorkie Yakker | I trained Emilio to a wee wee pad in a litter pan (no litter) from the start. He did really well with it. Used some Housebreaking spray at first until he got the hang of it. It makes them want to go where you spray it. He uses his potty all the time, when we are home and when we are not. I think that the key is consistency. He will go potty outside if we are out there but we don't take him out for that purpose. It has really worked out great for us. Hope that helps. |

| Not sure how old your pup is.. But, be sure to praise him when he's gone potty on the pad. Its also a good thing to associate a "phrase" with it. "good potty" "potty on pad". I too work all day and Meka was in a similar situation as far as being confined to an area with her pad, etc... When I came home, I would praise her for doing good ("good potty"). I would let her out to play, feed her, then after 20 min or so, tell her "go potty" and she would go to her pad. I definately would not stand over him expecting him to use it, because after being without you all day, all he wants to do is love you Just be consistant and all will work out just fine
