| Potty training - adding pads inside to going outside? Good morning Is it usually easy for a Yorkie to adapt from only going outside to go potty to also using pads indoors? I was reading Angelstar's thread on being discouraged and ShirlthePearl's answer sparked a question for me. I didn't want to hijack Angelstar's thread. Heidi will be 6 human years old on the 14th. She adopted us in May 2006. Unfortunately this year has been horrible for fleas, and now she hates going outside. Can't blame her one bit, she rarely goes a few steps on her way back to the door without stopping and scratching, and there are many many fleas on her when she comes in. Long story short, we've tried everything. Especially with the storms and change of season coming up, and eventually moving to an all-carpet house , we've thought about trying to train her to potty on pads in the house as well. We have some time before we're completely moved, and right now there is usually someone home with her all or much of the day. That someone is most often me. but I need to go back to work full time. I think the other night she went potty in one of the cat boxes so she didn't have to go outside. Occasionally she will climb in and just sit or lie down, but this time I heard scratching, she was in the box when I looked, there was wet, and no cats anywhere around. We don't know how she was first taught. We do know she was abused and likely used for a breeder dog at one point. She's been fixed. She still automatically reacts to certain things, and that's another reason why I'm a bit leery of the pads, in case it brings more bad stuff back for her. She is definitely my baby girl Thanks Theresa Quote:
