| He pee'd on her! Mascot is nearly a year old now and is housebroken. He doesn't have accidents indoors. My friend came over about an hr ago to pick up her small children and Mascot jumped up on the couch to give her love and when he got in her lap he pee'd on her! It wasn't a sprinkle like when he marks every pole we pass on our walks. It was a full pee in her lap. He must've emptied his bladder. She never gave him any reason for excited pee pee ( I read about that). And I have only seen him excited pee pee once. She didn't have the high pitched voice baby talk anything. SHe was just asking how her kids were while she was gone and he wee'd on her! I had to give her some clothes to wear home. Could it have been becasue he smelled her dog on her? Was he marking her? Isn't marking just a spritz of pee? He was neutered about a month and a half ago. It isn't a problem. He has only done it this 1 time, but I was only curious as to why he would relieve his bladder on her. Any thoughts from you brilliant yorkie owners?

| That is very unusual. I'm guessing it is because he smelled her dogs and was letting them know that he is the pack leader. Does he show other dominant tendencies, or are you definitely the pack leader in the house. |

| It definitely could be marking if he smelled the other dogs. When I take Chachi to places like Petsmart or the vets where he smells other dogs he will mark. Other than that he just marks outside during walks

| There is a difference between marking ones territory and peeing to show dominance. |

| He doesn't show any dominent tendencies... he rolls over for all dogs or cats... he doesn't bark at other dogs, I have never seen him hump anything. That is why I think it is so strange. ALl I can think of is the smell of her dog, which is male set him off.

| You're probably right, it is unusual though. |

| Yeah I am a bit baffled by it. Maybe once he let loose he couldn't stop...lol. I hope it doesn't become a problem. All my friends always let him get in their lap, I'd hate to have to stop letting him get on them. Thanks for the thoughts. It's always nice to get someone else's opinion.

| I am wondering if he was close to having to go outside to pee anyway and had an excitement accident. Even if she was not causing him to your eyes to be excited he could have been with all the wonderful smells she brought in. Could be he is a dog not perfect and had an accident. Could be the start of a UTI. It could be a one off it could be he does not like her that not dominance at all that just normal dog not liking others just like we do not like humans . He just found a very effective way to tell her. Rolling over to a dog or cat is not submission it usually if we must done by the pack leader t( the father or mother) in wolves to show the lessor member, his children that he not going to hurt them come play. Not every move a dog makes needs to be ranked as dominance or Territorial it is just behavior and if we want it to stop we just need to address the behavior to change that. JL |
