Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I'm sorry you're frusrated. She's still really young..she doesn't understand yet - it's like having a new born baby, you need to have a LOT of patience. They say the best thing to do is ignore the mistakes and praise like CRAZY when she does something right. as far as training come, keep her on a leash when you're doing it. Give a small tug everytime you tell her to come. Everything with training is about praising like CRAZY when they do it right. She'll get it eventually, it's just gonna take some time!

| OK so you need to teach the action before the word. They do not understand words they understand action better and always. So to get her to learn come there a few ways. First teach her name.. with the name game. Get a few people sitting around the room and call her name once she is looking at the person that called her have them make a fuss.. puppy puppy in a high pitch voice. once she gets there good girl good girl and pass out the treats. Get her going from one to another and across the room to them. NOW that her name means something.. do not use it in random conversation now is the time to give her a pet name like baby or cutie for when you are just talking. Keep her actually name for look at me and listen I am talking at you. Next now you have name response you can either stick in come after the puppies name and repeat the name game or. Head outside and play tag catch me and have her chase you and call come as you run away. I hear you now your thinKing the dog will come only if you run.... that ok right now you want the puppy to think you are Gods gift to him and nothing else matters.... once the puppy catches up stop turn squat and say good girl pass down the treats. After you got puppy coming on a running come .. walk, then step then stop motion over a time. OK that one way the other is to long line the puppy and as you call come you gather then line.. no pulling and draw with care in your direction and use high pitch puppy puppy here I am calles... Trick is it come once and lure in do not repeat the come..... Throw a party once you get the puppy to you and sitting in front and hand on him or her. Now come is only used when you want him to come for good things. If you need to trim nails go get or doctor in anyway or lock him up to go out. Also Come is alway kind, gentle and a party. If you call come off a smelly gooey or interesting thing and the dog does not come hit yourself.... in those things go get the dog. If while learning the dog does not came first call... oh well toss a party once he gets there and if you mad take it to another room and hit your self... Come most always be a great and wonderful event to get to Mom as it can save a life. JL |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I think w/ the running away she's going "oh! come play with me! catch me if you can!" if you watch a pack of dogs one will kind of run at the group and then turn really quick and run away so the others give chase....they do this for hours. My little Gwen does that to my 110 pound Golden Retriever, my 48 pound Siberian Husky and my 28 pound Jack Russell/Miniature Pinscher mix...it's a huge game to them....and they catch her and love on her so she just keeps doing it. Luckily my Golden prefers the A/C to the great outdoors so she rounds up the others when play time is over and comes in....and Gwen just can't handle her "fur-mommies" not being with her so she follows! Good luck!

In reality probably Daisy, does not know what to do. We as humans tend to teach the word before the action. They do not speak words and do not understand them before we put a value and the action to them. As far as they know we could tell them Blue was for sit action and Horse was go pee. Dogs tend to once it learned will pop it from short term memory to long term and loose it for a time. Dogs do not generalize at all so sit in the kitchen or come in the yard does not mean come in the house or sit outside. You have to teach it several places and with distractions plus a great deal of times to proof it and say the dog not got it. Then we go into the human end .... We as humans tend to change our voice pitch and that changes the whole thing for dogs. To them it not the same and your fault, not theirs. We tend to change the words from come, to come here, or to here or what ever word we think works for come. We also tend to nag come come come or sit, sit, sit rapid fire and forceful will get a stop action in the dog. We do not give our dogs time to think it through. Forceful or deep tone of voice slows a dog down ( the slow down is cause going slow and sniffing in dog language is Chill out) and Sharp high pitched one will make them move. We tend to forget that dogs are not verbal beings but visual and putting things on a hand cue will get a better response. JL | |

| Food rewards work well. When she obey's give her a small taste of her favorite treat. Also be consistent, with the desired behavior. Do it over and over until she does it correctly, and give her the word as soon as she performs.
