| is up all night! Our guy is 6 months old. We let him out at 10:30 before bed and stop water at 8:30. his food is done at the same time. He is getting up 2 or three times at night, every night. How can we get him to sleep through the night, or at least until 5am when I get up? shouldn't he be able to hold it by now? |

| Is he only getting up to go to the potty? I have 2 that will wake up for a drink because they don't always get a drink when they eat the last time. It also depends how small they are, as their little bladders aren't that big.

| Wis is 4 months old and holds himself at night from 10 to 7 am generally . He has done this since 8 weeks old . I do crate him . ..but during the day , he goes a lot !!! But at least , he lets me get my sleep . Was funny yesterday because my daughter was over with her shepherd and Wiz ran behind him and under him and almost got the golden shower . I had just bathed him that morning too . Sometimes being little can be hazardous . |

| Mine are almost 8 and 9 months old and have been making it through the night since they were a couple of months old. Maybe if you take the water away earlier it would help you out. I don't know how you're dealing with this. Good luck.

| My puppy wakes me up during the night too, usually around 1 am or 2 am and around 5 am again. I, personally am against holding in - I put myself in his place and I wouldn't want to hold in when I can go freely. I have no problem with my fur baby waking me up during the night, he needs to potty than he will potty when he needs to. Just my opinion! I wish you good luck, though

| Pepper would wake me up once or twice during the night when he was younger, but now that he is 6 months old he sleeps from about 9:30 till 6 or 7.

| My little Bailey Jo is 8 weeks old & we were having the same problem with her, she would get up around 2 & 6 and constantly bark. At that time she had free run of the kitchen & used her puppy pads she just wanted someone to play with her. The vet recommended crate training. So since then we will play with her around 8 then feed around 9. She will play some more on her own until about 11 then we put her in the crate- left open. She now sleeps through the night & will get out on her own to use the puppy pads. Hope this helps!!! Good Luck!! |

| Sleeps with us Hello I can tell you that we had the same problem. We have crate trained from the beginning. Bigos is now 5mths old. Around a month ago he started waking us up every 2 hours throughout the night. We would let him out and he would pee everytime. It was a relief that he at least he wanted to pee, but that got old and very exhausting. I know people advise against it but we finally gave in and tried to have sleep with us. This acutely worked. We let him out at 1030pm and he sleeps between me and my husband until 5am. Its acutely a great bonding experience. Hope you can get some sleep) Aneta |

| Mine mostly sleep through the night. If something wakes them up (storm, me getting up, the sun ) they want to go out, but otherwise they sleep. Loki wanted to go out at least once a night until he was like a year old. Sammy was 10 month old when we got her and she pretty much sleeps through the night. Anyway, it should get better but at least he is waking you up to go out! We always let them out if they ask, otherwise they ring their bell, bark, stand on my chest, etc. so it's easier to just let them out and then everyone can go right back to sleep. I can't wait until can have a doggie door!

| Karnak 16 - where is the crate now? Is it in the kitchen? Is your yorkie able to hear and smell you? We are struggling with ours sleeping through the night. My husband wants to put her back downstairs in the area for her (with unzipped soft crate, comfy bed, my housecoat, heartbeat pillow, water, and food). Thanks Last edited by SammySyverson; 09-06-2008 at 12:55 PM. |

| I am thinking I am way too permissive. My Suzi is 6 months old. she is awake at all hours of the night. I use pee pads , and have no problems with her. I guess i am not all that strict. However I live in a townhouse on the second floor. It is easier and more conveinant for everyone in the house.

| I had the same problem with Vegas. I would put her in her pet taxi at night right beside my bed and when she would bark I would take her out, which some nights would be 4 times, others 2 or 3. I never knew if she just wanted out or really needed to go but I didn't want to take any chances so I took her out everytime. Well last week she would start barking every 30 mins or so and I knew she didn't have to go so quick again so I ended up putting her in her big crate in the kitchen. And guess what, she hasn't woke me up since. I let her out to go potty right before I go to bed and immediately when I get up, she hasn't had any accidents during the night and I get to sleep all night!! |

| Max is 10 mths old now. When we first brought him home, he slept in his crate. He would never potty in it, but would cry to get out. My husband being fully trained lol, used to get up once or twice a night to let Max pee. We used to put a cover over his crate and he would block the door of the crate with one of my jumpers (I let him keep it). Gradually, he slept all night. At around five months old, we started to leave his crate door open at night. Now he sleeps between my husband and I. We have a devil of a job to prise him out of the bed in the morning. He takes after me lol. My little angel. |
