| Walking straight Does anyone have any good tips for training to walk on a leash? Right now I use a harness which seems to help with the chewing, but getting her to walk straight is a whole other task. She will start to walk by chasing my feet, then just stop and sit. It literally takes 15-20 mins to get around the corner. And she continues to run between my legs and left and right. Any help would be great. Thanks! |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Keep the leash shorten in your hand so that she is unable to do anything but walk beside you. Repeat the word...heel. Praise and offer her treats. Eventually you will extend her leash out...but she'll still walk beside you.

| I agree shorten the leash when you walk her. Let her get used to it for a few days and then give her some more slack on the leash...by then she'll be walking straight. Just make sure that when she's walking...she's walking beside you and not in front of you. As you know, all dogs are pack dogs and you need to show her that you are the pack leader (I think I learned this from Cesar Milan's Dog Whisperer show). |
