| Help training dog to walk with harness I just recently read about how unsafe collars are for small dogs. So, I started with the "gentle leader," which my Yorkie HATED. I got him the Puppia harness last night and he was fine wearing it around the house and fine being attached to the leash when he had to use the bathroom outside. But, he would not budge when we tried to have a walk. His ears were back and tail was between the legs and he wouldn't move a muscle. How can I get him to walk on this harness? I'm desperate because I don't want to risk hurting him with a collar. |

| Give him some time to get used to it. Have him wear it around the house, attach the leash to it and just let him drag it around with him. Practice that for a few days, and another thing is to have him on the leash, stand a few feet away and offer a treat when he walks to you. Little steps a little at a time, he will get used to it, really!! When you start to walk, just go a little ways at a time. Praise and reward!!!

| Make sure the clip on the leash isn't too heavy, if your dog can feel it, that may stop him. I also use a retractable leash (only the kind with a soft material lead) so my baby can't feel it. She walks 100 times better now. |

| Allow you dog to lead.... Let him decide where to go, and you let him lead you for a little while. He needs to get use to the harness, and feel comfortable wearing it. I also use a retractable leash .Suzi is just 4 months old, and has not had any problems wearing a harness. She loves running around . Does you dog like to be on the grass? MAybe try a different type of surface under his feet instead of the sidewalk. It takes time, and I do agree with your decision. A harness is better for a Yorkie to wear, and safer.
