| Potty Problem 1: Pooping/Peeing In Crate!! Kimchee is about 15 weeks, and I've had him for 2 weeks now. He poops and pees in his crate every single night! I've read other people's posts, and I've tried stopping all food/water after 7pm and placing a pad in half of his crate until he learns to at least go on the pad instead of in his be. Now, he will poop on the pad, but still pee in his bed! Please help! |

| I just got my 14 week Yorkie pup and he can't hold it all night so I get up at 2 am for a potty break. You might have to consider that until yours can hold it all night. It's a pain at first, but mine caught on to the idea really quickly. Now when I wake him up and put him on his puppy pad he just stays there until he goes, then he goes right back to sleep! |

| I think he's too young to expect him not to poop/pee during the night. Thats kinda like asking a baby not to wet its diaper I use to keep Meka in a playpen w/ blanket on one side (cuz she kept wetting her bed) & pad on the other. After a moment, they'll get it. Its important to enforce good & bad behavior now. Praise him when he does go on the pad and correct him when he doesnt. Proper crate training, should be with a crate that only allows them enough room to stand up and turn around. If there's room for a pad etc... then its way too big. Crate training is designed to limit their space, so they will not want to soil in it because there isnt enough room, basically. I only started crated training at 10 mo's with Meka, so Im not the expert nor can I say what the best age for it... but I hope this helped a lil

| I would read up on crate training and follow it to a T if you want success. Tobey was completely potty trained to a pad in just a few weeks. when we first got him (and it was early at 8wks) I put his little crate on my night stand so I could hear him start to cry in the middle of the night. They should whine a little if they need to potty before just going on their bed. I would just take him out and carry him directly to the pad. then after he did his buisiness (or after like 10 min) back to the crate. Sometimes I had to do this a few times per night which got exhausting but it paid off in the end. Now he is 1 1/2 and NEVER has an accident. Maybe I just got lucky with him....?? He's my first dog ever so I was just really scared of "messing up" with him at first and creating behavior problems.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | That's pretty strange! I would not think he would pee where he sleeps! you could try a belly band/wee wee wrap for at night. Least you will no he will not wet on the bed. |

| I feel your pain...I'm living it too. Phoebe doesn't seem to mind being in her pee. I can take her out to pee/poop and she'll still go in her crate with no warning

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Sometimes this happens if the crate is too big. For crate training to be effective, the crate has to feel like a bed, not an apartment. Some people block part of the crate off with boxes, but you must remember he won't be able to hold it all night, and you have to get up if he cries and put him on a pee pad. At first it was twice a night with Joey. I don't like the idea of withholding food or water this young either, and Joey's breeder told us food and water should be available at all times until he was 8 months old.

| I just got Katy Lou on July 2nd. She pees on the potty pad about 95% of the time and she holds it from 10PM until 5AM. My problem is she is so excited to get up in the morning that she can't make it to the potty pad and will not stay on it long enough to go. She is ready to play! She is only 10 weeks old so I think she is doing better than can be expected - thanks to a great breeder. We are in love with her. |

| Thanks to all for the replies! I'm happy to report, that after 3 weeks, Kimchee has stopped going in his crate!! The sad news is, now he wakes me up every morning at 4:30 am so that he can go on his pad |

That's great new, Joey usually woke me up twice, but they will go back to bed afterwards.
