| Playing fetch? I've seen a lot of videos on here (very very cute!!!) of their Yorkies playing fetch. I would love it for Bear to do that. Do they do this automatically or is it something they have to be taught? If so, how do you go about teaching them to play fetch? Is Bear too young to be taught at only eight weeks? I would lovveeeee to have a dog that plays fetch with me. My Chi absolutely won't do it. I've tried teaching her many times, but she just gives me a crazy look like, "Yeah right. Do you honestly think I'm going to do that? You've GOT to be joking." Lol. -Amy

| I have only played fetch with one of mine 1x, she did it right off the bat. I threw a little toy she went and got it and brought it back to me when I called her. Then we did it a few more times, of course after about the 4th time instead of bringing it back to me she went and buried it in her bed lmao

| Both my boys learned "fetch" so easy, I couldn't believe it. Just take a toy and toss it, and tell them to go get it. They usually want to go chase it as soon as you throw it, then tell them to bring it back. When they bring it back, give them a treat. Once mine learned how, I didn't use treats. They will play fetch for hours!lol

| Mac just picked it up right away, it was fun at the beginning, but now it's just getting annoying. He want's to play fetch at the worst times, like when I'm cooking or just trying to relax. And he'll bring every toy to you until you finally pick one up and toss it. The other weird thing that he knew how to do without me teaching it is getting him to bring his toy to me. One day he was whining, and I knew that he wanted to play, so I said "Where is your toy Mac?" and he quickly went searching for a toy to bring me, and he did! And he's been doing it ever since. Sometimes I hide the toys from him, and I see how long it will take to find them. Good luck with the fetching though, I think eventually most dogs do it sooner or later. |

| Hot Rod picked fetch up right away. Now I make sure to praise him and sometimes I will even give him a treat when he brings it back. We are now trying to name the different toys so he can go and get that one. He knows about 5 of the hundreds of toys he has.

| Charlie seemed to get fetch right away, and I think he taught Oliver. Now they "help" each other fetch. Video of Fetch - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting |

| You may want to try a ball instead of a stuffed toy. My dogs just fetched... good luck!

| Baxter loves to fetch and will fetch anything. Toys, balls, even pine cones in the yard. His favorite though is what I call a whiffle ball. I bought him a pack of three. They are white, plastic, with holes in them that he can get his teeth in to carry them. They were in the sporting goods section. He will get all 3 and put them in his bed and roll around on them. |
