| how come... Kash can hold his pee/poo all through the night while we sleep, but during the day he has to go out every 45 minutes?? and i seriously mean every 45 minutes! it's like clock work. he doesn't really tell me he has to go out, but i take him out every 45 minutes anyway, and sure enough, he pees. sticking to a schedule has helped minimize accidents in the house, but if i even stray from taking him out in 45 minute intervals, he'll pee in the house. i want to know why he doesn't just hold it for more than 45 minutes? he's almost 6 months old (will be on Saturday, May 24). how much longer will it be before i can just let him roam around without supervision for a few hours at a time? thanks!

Donating YT Addict | LOL..when you get an answer please let me know Ozzy can hold it for 6 hours at night too. I have to take him to the pad or out every every 3 hours to pee during the day and he goes but sometime he will pee on the floor an hour after he goes! Will I have to watch him like a hawk forever?? We have about an hour after he pees that we can relax and not follow him around. After that it's pretty dicey. I really don't want to go the bellyband route but I have to say I am considering it. (he was 6 months last week) I guess it's nice to know I'm not alone though

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I think because at night they are asleep. During the day they are running and playing and jogging their bladders ...not a scientific answer but it's my guesstimate. I think closer to a year when their bladder as well as their body is fully grown you can let him/her loose to run around. Zoey is 9 months now and when I am home I constantly take her out..but she will hold for good stretches. I think it has to do with them being ornery as well Also I think males tend to do a lot better if you neuter them early. That way they don't get into the marking of things.

The kidney actually works differently while sleeping; excess water is taken to tissues as well as the bladder. Furthermore, they aren't drinking as much if any throughout the night. Don't you have to go less at night than in the day?
