| And yet ANOTHER potty training problem... Hey guys... I will first off start by saying that I'm fully aware that my babies potty training problems are a result of my lack of consistency and well... often times just being lazy. But - it needs to stop, b/c he's destroying my carpet !!! I need some serious help. My Winston is a year old. He has been trained to use a pee pad and he uses it. All day every day. I have him gated into my tiled kitchen while I am at work and he goes #1 and #2 on his pad. When I come home, I let him outside and he does go pee, but its the rest of the time, when he's running around my house that is killing me!! He is pee'ing in very small amounts. I took him to a vet and he does NOT have a UTI or anything, but he's also not spayed (not sure if that plays a part) He is leaving littel piddles ALL OVER my bedroom! And often times I am busy and don't see him until its far too late, and the stains are dried. *sigh* I don't know what on earth to do. I'm having my carpet steam cleaned and treated this weekedn in hopes that I cna get most of this urine out, but it needs to stop and I'm at an absolute loss on how to get him to stop this behavior. He is also lifting his legs on my baseboards!!! |

| Yep, he's definitely marking. Belly bands are little bands of fabric that velcro around your dog's belly, covering his area. You stick like a maxi-pad or something absorbent in there. It's basically a diaper for boys. That'll save you from his marking. Just do a search on YT and you'll find several members who offer them for reasonable prices.

| yes, most any pet store or pet supply will have them,, (though some are on the pricey side there) I bought one for my granddog,, was $24 but worth every penny first time we used it , he likes to Mark at our house,, to Mark out his "Harem" (our girls),, but several ladies here on YT make and sell them,,,look in the forum under Yorkie things for sale

| belly bands are a nice idea from your point of view but they will not train him or let him know when he is doing anything wrong, once you get him in them it may not be easy to get him out! Hopefully the steam cleaning will help as it will remove his scent from the carpet which may be what is encouraging him to "reinforce" his territory. I plan to get Rufus castrated as soon as possible as this seems to be a common problem. Good luck |

| Steam cleaning won't get the smell of urine out. I'd suggest you get a carpet shampooer and use an enzyme cleaner in the machine. That, or you can get a black light and spot treat all the stains... unless you use an enzyme cleaner, they'll always be able to smell it.
