I have a Yorkie Poo and she will not.. wear a collar. She will run around trying to rub it off. Or lay around looking depressed. We tried seeing if she would "get used to it". After two and a half days we took it off. She was starting not to eat. I did order a harness, maybe that will help? Our little girl weighs about five pounds and full of energy. Her name is Emma and she is now nine months old. Thank you for any suggestions!! I do hope it is ok to post here about a Yorkie mix. The coloring and look of her head is pure poodle, the rest of her is all Yorkie. Norma

| Try a harness vest or a step in harness. We have several people who make them on here. Welcome to YT. Yorkies really have sensitive tracheas and collars aren't really a good idea. Good luck.

Emma should be wearing a harness with ID attached. When she is a little older try putting a collar on her neck when she is to go out. She will associate have the collar on with having a great time going for a walk with you. However, the collar is for ID only! Use the harness only for your walks.

What type of collar is it. Does it have a buckle or a safety. It may be too heavy, what I did was use a nylon with a plastic safety, they weigh less and stuck in the bottom of the laundry for a day before putting it on Milo, yes this sounds gross but, they collar will smell familiar.

Oh gee I had no idea about the sensitive tracheas. No collar for Emma then. I did order a step in harness, so we will see how that goes. Thank you! Norma

What kind of id do you get for a harness? Emma will be spayed in a week or two and she will have a Home Again chip put in at the same time. Norma

Remi uses a nylon collar for ID purposes. He has another collar used for obedience training class that was fit and sized on him by the instructor. I would not attempt this on my own. The harnesses I use are Puppia and Shnoozy. I prefer the Shnoozy on our walks as it also has a reflector band at the top. Hope this is helpful. Regards, Marilyn
