| what play pen do you use, if any? hi there! i'm looking for the perfect play pen for Kash. i'm trying to train him and i need to confine him to a smaller space than my kitchen (but bigger than his crate). i don't want the octagon-shaped x-pens. i need something square or rectangular. i want it to be $50 or less. and it can't be mesh or cloth, and it can't have large spaces in between the bars (he's so small, he'd probably squeeze through). what "play pens" do you all use? Thanks! Mae

| Play Pen I found one at Target by Boots and Barkley that is a pop up type. It is really nice in that it collapses easily for travel. I take it with me to my parents when we go for supper so we can put Jasper up while we eat. IAt is about 3x2 and is nylon with a mesh window on both sides so you can see in. It also has a front door that zipped shut and is also mesh. It is rectangular in shape and is only around $27. Check it out on the Target website. We have really loved ours.

| I don't have a recommendation but just thought I would share my experience. Murfee learned in about 2 days how to climb up the mesh sides of a playpen. I also got a zip up thingie for him and on the first time in it, he learned how to unzip it. Good luck

| Play pen I have had Jasper to free himself from his zip up play pen but that was when he has been put in with the zippers meeting at the bottom. If you make the zipper meet at the top he stays put.

| Petsmart Petsmart as a great white one in the small animals section. They have three different sizes and I believe the largest one is only $39. They also have coveres and linings for the bottom to secure against accidents. This has worked well for me. Mine is either 3 or 4 ft tall and has six 1 ft panels that you can shape however you would like.

| what do you use as lining for the xpens? I was planning to purchase a graco play pen but I think it might crowd my room too much and I wonder if it's going to be enough space for my soon-to-arrive 3 lb yorkie. I was opting for something like the graco travel lite but the pricing on those is more than I want to spend on a playpen so I've been looking into xpens and the plastic playpens. I have a question: When you're using the gated playpens, what do you use as flooring? I have wooden floors and I would hate to get them messed up because my baby decides to play with it, pee on it, etc. What do you advice to be good lining for the playpen? |

| I use a baby playpen from Toys R Us. it is raised up off the floor, so you don't have to worry about your wooden floors. I put rubberized baby pads in the bottom to protect the pad and put a pee pad on one end and a bed on the other. There is room for water/food bowls too. So far this works well for whelping and raising puppies. I have just ordered a pen without a bottom that is larger, and would like to know what people put in the bottom of their pens also. I have dark wood floors and am worried about keeping them clean and not ruining them too.

| On the bottom of our pen we just put a tarp that we got out of the fishing section and folded it to just slightly larger than the pen. It works great and thank goodness doesn't look too tacky

| My excersise pen came with a bottom matt, but I bet you could use a shower curtain liner to put it on.
