| Car rides and leashes Hi, Our Yorkie Bailey is just over 3 months old. We have been taking him for rides in the car (we really want him to get used to the car) Everytime we get in the car he cries/whines for most of the trip. We are only taking him on small errands; we bring his blanket; we have tried holding him and putting him in a carry bag. He just does not like it. Anyone have any suggestions or tips to make the car a place we will enjoy?? Also we have a harness for him and he goes completely mental when we try and put it on him. Any ideas??? Bailey Bunch |

| Conner started loving the car rides when we would take him to the park. For a while, that was the only time we put him in the car. I would ask him if he wanted to go to the park, even though he didn't know what I was saying. I would put his harness on, and we would go to the car and drive to the park. Now, I just ask him if he wants to go to the park and he gets so excited. Now he likes the car (not loves).

| My Jobey loves the car also. He might whine for a few minutes but then he falls fast asleep. I have a friend who has a yorkie and Zoey doesnot like being in the car!! She screams and yelps the whole time and that started after they went to the vet the first time. I guess she's associating CAR with VET Did he have a bad experience in the car? |

| Car rides He has not had a bad experience. We actually got him from a breeder in Lewiston, ME which is a few hours from where we live. She drove to Portland to meet us. It took us two hours to get there, plus it took her an hour. So he was in the car for three hours. He was fine. He whined a little off and on but not bad. Then we took him to the vet once and on some errands and he was okay. But the past few weekends he was whined. Yesterday, he did calm down after a little bit so hopefully that is a sign of things to come. Thanks for you help.

| He'll eventually get used to it. All dogs are different But good luck and I hope everything works out okay. It would be terrible not to be able to take your baby anywhere with you.
