| Is this a good potty training idea? I will be getting my male yorkie puppy next friday. He will be 7 1/2 weeks old then. I have read alot about potty training yorkies but all of them say take them out every 2 hrs. The problem is I have to work and will not be able to be with him every second. We want him to be pee pad trained like our male pug is. So here is my idea. I bought one of those play yards and intend to put his bed, toys food and water in it along with a pee pad. I have heart to line the entire area with pee pads and decrease them slowly. Should I do this or just put one in there from the get go? If anyone else has any suggestions on this or ideas plmk thanks. |

| Congratulations!! I think that's a good idea. My philosophy for potty-training is to make it impossible not to succeed (that is sort of selfish on my part, because if there are accidents, 99.9% of the time they are our fault, not the furpups' fault, so I want to be successful!). By decreasing the pad area slowly, you are doing just that!

| Congrats!!! You said he will be 7 1/2 weeks old when you get him? From what others say they should stay with their Mom till they are 12 weeks old. I know the wait is hard, I'm waiting to get mine in a few weeks. I think you'll have better luck waiting a few more weeks for him to grow up a little more. Otherwise, your plan sound good. Can't wait to see pictures |
