| Pee Pad Training I have a soon to be 10 week old puppy. i have been training him on the pee pads and i keep it in my kitchen where he stays when i do not watch him. Currently i have the pad set in one spot which it has been ever since the puppy came home my problem is my puppy tends to pee in a different spot. He doesn't do either one consistently but the corner he likes (without the pad) he has pee'd in several times. Should i move the pad to where he pee's or should i continue with the spot i have had since the pup came home? I dont care if i move it i just am not sure if its a good idea to change where the pad is. |

| I also forgot. Okay so Coley is only 10 weeks old so i know he is very young for any expectations but him sleeping through the night is not going well. He generally wakes up about 3-5am and 7-8am (depending on when he goes to sleep) and begins to bark like crazy. I did have him sleep with me the first week he came home just because he was sleeping better and i needed my rest (i know probably a bad idea) I feed him kind of late at night but he is never hungry earlier in the day and so in the middle of the night he has been going potty at least 2 times. Is he too young to hold these things in or do i need to re-arrange him feeding schedule? The thing with the feeding schedule is he is not hungry in the morning, ive tried to feed him about an hour after he wakes up and he isnt interested and wont eat any lunch until later at night. I am just rambling now but its my first dog and i want to get it right! i dont want an obnoxious untrained dog like i see many people let their pets become. |

| Welcome to YT! Congratulations on getting a new puppy. As for moving the pad, if you don't mind it being there permanently go ahead. Or you can get special enzyme cleaners to clean up the spot so he can't smell the urine there. That may help him not to go there.

| i've had my yorkie for 4 months now, he is about to be 6 mo old and have experienced the exact same thing you have. i just moved to pad to where he tends to go. that has worked out well for the both of us. since the weather's gotten better, he's getting used to going outside. as for the sleeping, i have caved in and let him sleep with me at night. i couldn't stand the barking early in the morning, but i know it's bad. |

| I don't know which works best, some people swear by "Nature's Miracle", Odoban, walmart brand, etc. I have tried several, including vinegar and water and can't tell you which works best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Maybe we aren't leaving it on long enough before blotting,

| Thanks for the welcome's. Well i was okay with him sleeping with me until he pee'd on my bed! So after that i said no more. I think im going to try to get a spray but i feel like he is trying to do the pad its just he is too young to get it. Am i wrong about that though, should i expect more?

| Yeah, cooper just recently peed on my bed too, but i thought he had gone before getting ready to sleep, but apparently he didn't. just be patient with him. he is still young. just use the reward method when you catch him peeing on the pad, then discipline him when he doesn't. my sister has a 2yr old yorkie and for the most part, he is potty trained. but there are a few occasions he has "accidents". as for the spray, i use Nature's Miracle "Oxy clean". I'm satisfied with it. |

| What time do you usually go to bed? A 10 week old puppy, can only hold it for a little over two hours, so that is why he is waking up. The rule of thumb is, one hour for every month old: 2 month=2 hours, 3 months = 3 hours. |

| i don't know if this is the right way, but it worked for me: i put 2 to 3 pee pads at different places and eventually got it down to 1 pad after he got the idea. i thought he would never get it when he was a puppy... it took us a few months. patience and lots of praise and treats are the keys. enjoy his puppyhood. they grow up fast! |

| When we got our first "little one" (we already had 2 big labradors) We taught her to use the pee pee pad by placing a paper towel soaked with her urine on the pad itself. We then showed her the pad with her own urine and supervised her all the time watching to see if she would "squat" when she did we set her in the pee-pee pad. We used the plastic pee-pee pad holder along with it. We had to be diligent but after a couple of days, she "Got it". We have since trained 2 other "little ones" with the same method and have had success with both of them. When we go visiting, we take the pee-pee pad (Holder and all) with us and they do just fine even when they are away from home. Hope this helps.

| I am using the pee pads but I am taking my dog to the basement and putting her in a XX large cage. Now when she gets in the cage she goes stright to her busness and goes potty. Then I take her out right away I can stand there and watch her it is almost like taking her outside. I havent set a pee pad anywhere in the house upstairs because I am scared my lab will get to it. She has made an accident on the floor a couple of times when I wasnt watching. I usually take her to the basement 4 too 5 times a day. She cant walk up and down the stairs yet. My lab goes outside to potty like clockwork he is not a problem. |
