| Tired of being a pooper scooper! When we first got our pup he went on the pee pad every time! Now we aren't so lucky. He does VERY well peeing on it (aside from marking) but now he wont poop on it. At first we thought he didn't like going while we could see him, but now he never goes on it even when we aren;t in the room. Any suggestion? |

| Feed him on a schedule and learn when he poops. Then confine him until he goes. No playtime or free roam until he goes in the right place. We had a difficult time with Sammy going outside (she would go run and poop in the closet) so now we make sure she goes first thing in the morning which she usually does, and then also in the evening right after dinner. If she has eaten and not done her thing outside then we either put her in her crate and try again in an hour or we just keep her on a leash in the house. She goes on schedule probably 5 out of 7 days. She hadn't gone Friday in the morning so we blocked off her 2 choice spots in the house and kept her on a leash or in her crate until she went and it worked - no pooping in the house! Tonight she went right after dinner so she is running around like usual.

| well we had him baby gated into our small appartment kitchen but now he has learned to climb the gate. The only other option is too get a pen but I am not sure if will climb out of that. We are trying to eventually litter box train him so a crate isn't bif enough for that. My husband is also being pretty stubborn and not wanting to feed him a few times a day. He only wants yto free feed him no matter whar I say. What do you think? |

| I think if you free feed him he will poop at random times during the day. If you feed him 2 or 3 times a day at roughly the same time, he will poop at the same time. The nice part of this is that once he goes in the morning you know he's good for a few hours and can let him run around, and you repeat that several times a day. Let him scoop the poop....

| I had the same problem and found out that tessa didn't like a dirty peepad. Once she's peed on it I have to put a clean one down. She is going outside most of the time now anyway. Once a found the poop, I would pick her up and carry her over to where the poop was and tell her "NO" as I was picking the poop up. Then I would carry her and the poop over to the pad and put both on the pad. Then I would praise her like she had gone on the pad in the first place. She seems to have caught on. I did this for about 2 weeks. I prefer free feed as well so I can understand where your husband is coming from. All my animals (3 of them) are free feed. No problems with being overweight.

| does yours pee on a pad that they have already peed on? Or will they only pee on it once? Bentley will "double pee" but not quite got the poop down yet. I'll try and see what happens. |

| Tessa will double pee but that is it. She won't go on it more than twice and she will only poop on it once. I find even with free feeding, they tend to go at certain times of the day, so just watch if you can, and when you see him squat, get him to the pad.

| We've only had Scrappy for a little over a week, but I think he's doing pretty well so far. I keep him in his crate at night and during the day while I'm at work. I got a big one that has room for a little potty box (I put a puppy pad or an old towl in it for him to potty on) and his bed and his food & water. When he comes out of the cage, I keep him confined on the tile entryway where his crate is until he goes on the puppy pad (BOTH). He almost always has to do both right when he gets out, but he likes to have some lovins and a little play to work the potty out. After doing this every day right when he gets out of his cage, he knows the routine now. He comes out, gets lovins, brings me a toy, then pees, the brings me the toy a couple more times, then poops. Also, in the evenings (and weekends) while we're home, about every hour or so I do the same thing... block the way on one exit, then I sit across the other opening and play with him until he pees. I think he's starting to get it, he only had one accident on the carpet yesterday, and he even went to the potty pad by himself a couple times. He has also come to me and nipped at my feet until I follow him to the potty pad (because if I SEE him potty on the pad, he gets treats and lovins!) Eventually, I'd like to train him to potty outside - but he's so tiny and it is so cold and we have such bad weather right now that I don't want to force him to go outside. I'm currently debating dog litter - but I don't know much about it. |

| I thought they weren't suppose to go poop or pee in the crate because thats where they sleep? My baby goes pee and poop in there and crys and crys and crys until I take him out. It's been waking up my family up in the night. I'm not sure what to do anymore. I end up taking him out of course. He will sleep in the crate sometimes during the day, but in the night He has problems. His last feeding is at 6pm is that too late?
