| I'm sorry you're upset I'm not totally sure but I think any snipping at other animals while they are eating is food gaurding or food possesiveness. I think it does need correcting, maybe you could hold the cat while Layla is eating and give Layla treats while she's nice and calm? There are a lot of techniques that can help with it. It's such a natural defence mechanism that it's really common in my experience of talking with trainers <3 |

| so the cat came back upstairs and layla started at him again... i got mad at her... she isn't normally a food agressive dog.. since day 1 i've always had my hands in her food.. take it away.. put it back... and she is being very possessive over me.... this is such a different dog than the dog i know... i feel just sick to my stomach about it.. before we left she didnt' care where the cat was or what he was doing... |

| These babies sure can get to us, can't they...I'd be surprised if she didn't try to put the cat in his/her place..after all she was probably very hungry and was guarding HER food...JMO |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I think she might just be going through a protective stage, since you did take the food away from her before and she wants to make sure it won't happen again. I think you did the right thing by yelling at her, because she needs to learn right now that she canNOT bite. I'd suggest you don't go near her when she's eating, because she might just blindly snap at you to protect her food. She's bitten the cat twice, and I think that's enough to put him in his place. If she does it again, I'd reccomend a time out or something. Good luck!

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Don't look at her eyes lol. I know, they're killers. I always make a point not to look at Tucker when he's in trouble, because he has those eyes too. its good that you put her in the crate not as a punishment. I think just feeding her somewhere else is a good idea. Maybe you should try hand feeding her a little bit just to make her realize that the food is hers and she's allowed to eat it. Its totally possible that she's just getting herself back in order after vacation. I'm sure in a couple days she'll be back to her old self.

| Thanks Everyone. Well she has made progress. we went to visit our neighbours today and when we came back she gave Charlie kisses which was nice however my mom was giving Layla a treat and took a while to get it out of the bag and Layla barked at her. I think she is just having an off day... i hope... She goes to day care all day Tuesday and i know the dogs there will not put up with her attitude so hopefully they will put her in her place! |

| I know this isn't funny but maybe she is PMSing....he he I personally think she is adjusting to being home again and reminding the cat that she was there first. You did the right thing by tuning her in right away. It's hard introducing a new pet because it does change the personality of the first one. In time everyone will adjust and be the best of friends. It's hard but it will get better. Mindy is finally coming around after having Bear for a couple months now.
