| Raising two p Hi all The more i read the more I realize that it takes time and determination to house break these little ones. If it was up to me I would litter box train them but I dont think my hubby would go for that one because we have two kitties that do that already and he would not be happy with that. Especially because they are all my pets. He loves them too dont get me wrong. Yea I think I am just a bit overwelmed because I brought two home at once or shall i say in a matter of 1 week apart.Hey any of you raised two at once and what was your experience???? I have read that they sometimes they bond better to each other rather then you or that one bonds well and the other not. Oh also is it really true that its double the trouble or nice that they have each other when I am not home ???? Sorry so many questions now that I am talking I cant shut up. Thanks VMS |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk and congratulations on your new babies!! I started out with 1 yorkie, it was a lot of fun but a lot of work! She needed all my attention all the time, it was so cute at 1st but was hard when I needed to wash dishes or take a shower, I had a cryiing yorkie at my feet. So after about 2months of that I went out and got her a companion, he is about 2 mo younger than her but they are best friends. They took to eachother instantly, she still loves me and loves to be babied, they both do, but in between all the cuddles and kisses they play with eachother and keep eachother busy. It works out really well, getting a 2nd yorkies was the best desicion I could of made.

| Welcome to YT!!! Also, Congrats on your New Doggies .. I also started out with 1 puppy.. (Oreo being my first).. He was very smart.. and was Potty trained within 3 weeks of major training. But once he turned 4 months old (I got him when he was 8 weeks).. I got another pup (Ginger.. she was also 4 months old).. and Oreo all of a sudden forgot where to pee/poo.. so I had to train them both! .. It was only a matter of maybe two or three weeks till they were both completely potty trained.. and two was better because they not only bonded better.. but If Oreo would pee/poo on the pad.. Ginger would copy him lol.. so it was good.. And now that I have my third (Cloey).. they copy each other, so they are potty trained Good luck with your two furbabes and best wishes in pottytraining! |

| I have a male yorkie name Cowboy and he uses the potty pad when I have to be gone. When I am at home I take him outside and he will go there. He is 4mo old. I keep him in a safe room that he can see us and we can see him, if I can't be watching him every minute. My question is how did you train so quick? Am I confusing him by putting him in the room with a potty pad instead of letting him run around? Also he sleeps in his crate for naps and bedtime without any problem. |

| I got Roxy and TJ at the same time. They have the same father but different mothers. Roxy is 2 months older. WOW, I had NO IDEA what I was in for...but after the first 2-3 weeks all was good! I wouldn't have done it any other way! They both love me and I love them both the same, but they also have each other to love, play and fight (of course), which gives me a chance to do what I need to do. They are definatley double trouble though...they do everything the other one does! The potty training is going so-so...they were papered trained when I got them, but they also were contanted in a 4x4 x-pen. In my home they are contained during the day in a spare room and for the most part use the wee wee pads. When they are down stairs with me in the 'free open land' the use the pads to pee but poop is a different story. I have not brought them outside to use the grass yet (we are still doing the landscaping so we just have 'crappy' weed grass) which I do not want them on. I have been using cherrios as rewards and it seems to be going ok. I know that it will just take some time and effort but them will both get there! (i hope :-) |

| I also got two at the same time but one was my daughter's and so they were only together about three weeks over the Christmas break until my daughter went home to college. I then got a "third" yorkie over Easter for my 17 year old daughter. All three love each other and play well together. Chai, the girl is a bit bossy and will fight with Hefner if she gets jealous. My little girl a champ at the potty training issue too but the boys took longer. Welcome to YT and good luck! |

| Do you think it is better to get the same sex or opposite for a playmate? I am going to have to get my little male fixed and would like to get a playmate for him. He is now 4 mo old. Also when is a good time to add a 2nd one? |

I was told that it is better, if your going to add another pup.. get it while they are still young.. so your dog doesn't get jealous. Either gender is fine.. I have 1 boy and 2 girls and they are great. It's even better since you are going to have your male fixed. Neither 3 of my babies are fixed yet so it's quite a hassle when my male marks anything and everything. I also heard, if your going to add another pup.. should be either the same age or older.. that's what i've heard.. but actually my pups were 6 months old when i got Cloey who was 10 weeks old and the adjustment was fine.. i guess because all 3 are so hyper lol.. | |

| I have two outside dogs and Maggie is inside. She can be a handful, but she is my only furkid. I have considered getting another, but still tossing it around.

| I also have two outside dogs and 1 inside cat. They all get along fine but I live in the country and do not let Cowboy go outside alone, ever. I would like another, but my husband is not much of a pet person. So I will just have to keep working on him. |

| 2 Yorkies I now have two yorkies both males. I got Benny on Sunday July 17. My other yorkie Niko is 9 months old and he is a spoiled baby. He is jealous but still play fights with Benny. Benny is a biter. I think Niko will be ok in the long run and they will completely fall in love!! |
