Weewee pad warning! I used to use wee-wee pads in Jackson's playpen. Then he began to rip them up. The breeder told me that one of the people who purchased a puppy from her had left him in his playpen and when they came back he was dead! The vet autopsied him and found that the pad , which is absorbent had blocked his intestines and killed him! Now i only use them when I am watching him.

thanks for the warning, fortunatly i am mostly leaving toby in his crate when i am not present and he doesnt have access to "potty" during the few hours i am not home....... but that is really scary, especially since he started to "rearange" their positions because he didnt like where i put them The new regime has begun, NO CHEWING ON PADS!!! Again, thanks for the warning

Thanks for the info. I remember when my yorki's were young they used to rip those pads to shreds and play with them. I thought it was just annoying to pick all of that up now I look back on it and it scares me to death. I know they had to have eaten some of the pieces. Thank God they didn't eat enough or nothing bad happened. I will remember this in the future and be sure to watch them at all times.

Where do you find washable pads? or do you make them? I HATE the disposable as Mia shreds them.

Yep, the washable are by far the way to go. They may cost more at first, but you end up saving in the long run. They last for years.

| About how many of the washable ones do you suggest to buy? I don't have my puppy yet, but I would like to get started on supplies. Sandy won't have anything to do with them, she likes to go outside. Would it be silly to train the puppy to go on the pad while the other one is going outside? We just got a new foster in (Pomeranian mix) and she likes to go outside too. Actually, all of the dogs I've fostered have prefered the outside, but I'd like to be able to try the pad with my puppy -- I'm just not sure if that would make it confusing for Sandy. Wow, I'm just full of questions today!

Buster's daddy works in a hospital and I know this is bad to say but we use the pads that they put the sterile stuff for surgeries on and they are just like the puppy pads but they are stronger and less padding for him to try and chew up but we haven't had a problem with Buster chewing on the pads. I think he's realized that that's where he goes potty and that if he tears it up he has no where to go potty. I'm really glad to know about the danger of them and even though we haven't had a problem with Buster yet I'm going to keep that in mind!!
