| Agility Training Spike and I had our first beginner agility class last night. He didn't do so well - I think the new place full of new dogs intimidated him a bit, but I like the instructor and the other dogs and their owners. Has anyone else taken their Yorkie to agility? Any tips? |

| Hi there. Agility training is great fun for you and your dog. I do it with both my yorkies. The first night is always fraught because there are so many new smells and dogs and your dog pics up on your own tension too. One thing one trainer said to me is to have fun because the dog you arrive with is also the dog you take home! Took me a while to think that one through but it has really stuck with me. Just take your time. Do things at your own pace and set your own goals. I've been doing agility for nearly two years and we're certainly not advanced in anyway. Take your own little victories. Mine was that Dougal actually completed two course at the last ribbon trial and didn't get disqualified. placed just about last -- but didn't get disqualified. Dixie also just had her first clear round too. A win for me is keeping Dougal's attention for more than 30 seconds!! I've learnt soo much about the characters of my two dogs by doing agility that I don't think I could have without the regular intensive training. I'm sorry for the long post but I just have soo much fun with agility I'd love others to as well. Get into it. Ask questions. it's great fun!!
