Default laser light

I stopped in petco to get some food and they had at the counter some of those laser lights. I think it was $2.99. I bought one. oh my have we had fun with this. it is a good way for them to get some exercise and you are too tired to run with them.

LOL, I just made that suggestion on another thread. It's weird, though, Eddie shows no interest in a laser light.

It is fun. Pinky loved it and the other two did not really care. Here is an old video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCTW1v21IzA

I still think it sounds like great fun, but I recently read a post on another forum that I thought worth passing on: A behaviorist responding to the question says it's probably not good exercise for obsessive dogs. The troubled dogs she treats often need exercise, but to have them fruitlessly chase a light with no reward at the end could make their problem worse.

But, again, she only made the caution for dogs with servere behavior problems.

I think if you only used it once in awhile, it would be fine. Jake loves it, and when my son is done playing with him, he gives him a treat. But, he doesn't have any behavior probs. I could see where it would make an aggressive dog more aggressive though. I've heard you have to be really careful not to shine it near their eyes.

My boxer is a complete nut for laser lights, I can make her go in circles over and over again. I just make circles on the ceiling with the laser light and she tries to chase it, its so funny!

I know of a dog who has become obsessed with chasing lights and shadows because of the lasor light pen. They cant even light candles in their house beucase he goes nuts for the shadow. He looks for it all the time and its been years since they have used it.

Well, I tried it with Gracie. She thought it was fun as long as the cat was chasing it. After that, it was short attention span theater!
