| Patients. Lots of patients. Sometimes putting a toy in front of them is enough, but other pups just need to come to it on their own. Kaji did not like me trying to engage him in play with toys. It took a few months, and once he trusted me, he engaged me in a game of chase. A few months after that, he started playing with a tennis ball that my mom randomly left in the living room. I guess sometimes, they just need to come to it on their own. Now his favorite past times are fetch, and hide and seek. He still hasn't gotten the hang of tug though. :/

| Update! She played with a toy today! A small plush lamb...she chewed and carried it around for about 10 minutes. I was so happy for her i had been leaving them around and today, it all seemed to click!

| That's great! We've had toys laid around for a year and a half untouched except to vacuum under. Claim your wins when you can! Ours has improved greatly in other areas. |

Very true. I'm still working on some things with Kaji. It's been 5 years.

| How long do you have her. Do you know anything about her back ground, like where was she rescued from. Have you tried rolling a ball slowly across the floor. Yorkiejilly had some interesting suggestions on a thread titled something like "any couch potatoes out there". Buy several diff. types of toys, like soft rubber squeaky, diff. size balls, fluffy toys with squeaky's in paws and head. Sounds like she is interested fluffy toys.

| I've had a female rescue Yorkie since 2007. She was born in 2003 and from the day I brought her to my home she has never been a playful dog. No toys, no balls, no kong! I rescued her from a home puppy mill that she resided. Most of the time spent in a cage. She requires very special care because she doesn't like to be held or cuddled. She's not aggressive and doesn't cause any conflict in my pack. She's my special baby and I just enjoy what she's able to give me. I let her do as much as she wants and I don't ask for much from her. I just love her and try to make her life with me as comfortable as possible. I used to feel sorry for her but I no longer do because she needs a strong leader that's going to protect her and love her and that's what I am to her. |

| So glad to hear this! For us... Dixie has been with us since May and she started off as a foster dog for YHR that we adopted. She did not play with toys either. But, she learned slowly and six months later she is so cute to watch. It sounds like your little girl is going to do the same thing. It is so heartwarming to see.
