| Sugarmamma just got this adorable Nantucket Bike Basket for her lil' Sugar! I'll see if she can post a picture of her baby in her basket...I don't have a bike and I want a bike basket, too...lol http://www.nantucketbikebaskets.com/...ypage.tpl.html ps...I think if you're going to take your baby for a bike ride, they should be able to sit in the front and have an open view with a breeze...heeheehee!

| I have taken my two on bike rides in the summer. I strap them in the basket and they just love it. I am thinking about getting them a bike helmant this year. I like the picture that was just posted with the toip on it, I still worry about them even though they are straped in. |

| I have the Snoozer Bike Basket. I love it and so does Max! It would fit on a mountain bike, you just have to be careful that the brake lines are free from the basket. Snoozer Pet Bicycle Basket - Exercise & Pet Pleasure

| Yes!! I have taken Copper on several bike rides. I have a front pack that I strap on and criss cross over my back. He sits in the pack and there is a strap that clips on his harness so he can't jump out. It works perfectly and I can keep an eye on him.

Their Bike Basket also looks like it would be a comfortable ride for your pooch, too! They list them as one size fits all...my Abby & Pheeb's would love it but, not sure if Bella...my TPot girl could fit, tho...lol Makes me want to maybe start riding a bike again...

| I posted it in both places... really I was trying to get it to show up in new posts...which it never did! Great suggestions on both threads! I really need to start working out more, I get nervous to walk in my neighborhood, someone had brought the fact up that there are alot of stray dogs where I live and what would I do if some pit ran after us??? I take furgie walking at the park, but bike riding would be fun for the both of us and hopefully help get me back into shape! I am excited to get a bike basket! |

| LOL I thought I was seeing double I read somewhere that when walking a yorkie you should use a harness and a solid leash. If a large dogs comes after you the yorkie will not back down and if you have a solid leash you can yank the yorkie up into your arms without hurting the yorkie. Not sure if I am explaining this well.... also GET sometype of defense... a taster (dogs hate the electrical sound and will back off) may help. In Miami lots of people like the big "bad" dogs.. meaning they are trained to be more aggressive, or the owner does not know how to control so it is an issue. Now on the funny side, we were attacked the other day... by a chi My biggest dog (25 lbs- shih tuz) freaked out He will stand down a 100 lb dog if he thinks he is defending me but runs from a little 2 pound yapper lol

| I used to love riding with my first Yorkie. I have a basket with an clamp/extener for the steering post, so that the basket can fit on my mountain bike. I find mountain bikes are much more stable and I am not going to win a race with a Yorkie in the basket! Some advise: My first Yorkie never acted like he'd attempt to jump out of his basket, but he did once. He saw a squirrel on a ride, and decided to jump out. I had his leash on him, and ended up draging him for a very brief time after I slammed my breaks on and went over the handlebars. I was fine, he was not in as good shape. He was shivering and bloody, very scary. Took him to the ER and he was fine as far as no broken bones, so it was only a bad scare. Since that time, I've learned not to trust them not to jump. Use a harness to secure your Yorkie to the basket. And leave just enough slack so that they can look around, but not enough to try and jump out. I'm a very experiened and carful rider (with one of my guys in the basket), but there is obviously some risk involved so I'd recommend you be as safe as possible if you go the basket rout. I would imagine a backpack would be safer (but not as fun for the Yorkie). |
