I started buying some baby clothes and fixing them to fit and I also had build a bear clothes that seemed to fit fine. I am thinking about starting to make her clothes but I don't like much of the patterns they offer at the store, can anyone help me?

| Dressing our dogs Yes I agree that the dog clothes can become really expensive, but I do love to dress my Yorkie and once I have bought quite a few clothes for him, I can sit back and say that it for a while, and get the enjoyment out of dressing him. I did get a comment the other day though when I was out walking him I said Hello to a lady with a little poodle and she said (Why do you dress your dog) that made me think what should I have said to her? | I buy some expensive and some not. sometimes I just like to bargin shop. I have found sweaters for 3.00 and I have paid 20.00. I try to limit myself on how much I spend monthly on pet items: Clothes. bows, toys, treats, shampoos, and the necessities! I am having a blast bc this is my baby now that all my children are grown and out of the house.

| I've paid as little as $1 and as much as $8. Target's dollar section has shirts a lot for between $1 and 2.50 - and there are always adorable shirts/dresses at Walmart. After the season's are over, if you take some of the stuff to the scanners, they come up between $1 and $5. I also watch for clearance stuff at Petsmart. My husband was dead against clothes before we got Morgan - now he loves seeing the outfits I bring home for her and thinks she's adorable in them.

| My feelings are the same as yours I am really thrilled to see that someone is thinking the same way as I am, our children have left home years ago, and now Yorkie is our baby, sometimes our son says but mum it's just a dog, but we see it as our baby, and yes he is really very spoilt, we even take him to the shops with us, and to most of the places we go, he goes with us. Would love to have you as one of my Yorkie contacts. Regards Leone. Quote:

Yorkie Yakker | Zoey is so long that she doesn't fit in the bear clothes at Michael's. My Target very rarely has dog clothes but when they do I snatch them up! My mom is teaching me to sew. Does anyone know where I can find patterns online?

| If you google free dog clothes or dog dress sewing patterns there are a lot of sites that have them. Better homes and garden has a nice dress pattern on their site.

| I think clothes for small dogs are 1/3 luxury and 2/3's necessity...their small single hair coated bodies need the extra warmth and blockage from the sun, etc. One of my Yorkies just loves wearing clothes & bows; the other ...she's a tomboy and clothes are such a bother. I think the clothes should be foremost comfortable for the dog and the style/cost should be whatever one can afford and enjoy. If the dog likes you to dress it up and take it out, then one should...their lives and yours are too short not to have a little fun. I've found people just seem to come to expect a Yorkie will be dressed up, certainly "bowed" up. I've taken them into stores without being "fixed up" and people have asked me why aren't they in "those cute little outfits"? ~KC |

| I've made the mistake of taking pictures of her without clothes on - and people always ask me why she's naked.
