| I need some assistance with finding a good chewing treat for my 6 month old 2lb puppy. She likes pigs ears but someone told me that they was really bad for her. Someone told me bully sticks are fine, how is that when I think they are pretty much the same thing? If they are ok from others experience I will give it back to her. But has anyone found something out there that they love and can chew and easily digest? It would be greatly appreciated! |

I don't like the Pig Ears.. Anytime Peanut would have one he would get Diareaha, so I stopeed giving him those. He gets "bully sticks" and he will get the "pig nose" those are the only things that he gets oh and I forgot he gets a "texas toothpick" I would stay clear from any of the white "rawhide" those are bad for them. Make sure the chew's are big enough where she cant swollow them!! Not tiny pieces!! I almost lost Peanut over a "greenie"

| Owned by Jackson ♥ Donating Member | Pig ears are really high in fat. I do get Jackson pig ears sometimes but maybe like once or twice a month as a treat. He really really loves his bully sticks.

Bully sticks are from a bull/beef. They come from the tendon that...well, they are a bull's penis. They are high in protein and low in fat. A good choice for a dog's chew!

| This thread: How many calories in a bully stick? found an answer. One 12 inch bully stick is supposed to only be 20 calories. Seems very low to me though. High protein usually would have more calories than that. I am thinking of jerky..... Wait a minute ---- it was you that posted the calorie count in the other thread.

| It seems like AMD posted a while back that a 6" bully stick had approximately 140 calories. I remember because I thought that was a LOT of calories for tiny yorkies. My kiddos sure do love their bully sticks, though.

| oh great! I just switched to Pig ears after hearing again and again how bad rawhide is. Tucker LOVES rawhide so it was hard to make the choice to take it away. Thought the pig ears would be better so bought a large bag of those. He likes them a lot too, but now I'm hearing those are bad too sheesh!!I guess I'll have to check out the bully sticks again. I had tried a sample from AMD but Tucker didn't seem to care about the bully sticks--just left them lying on the floor Maybe another brand will sit better with him, hmmm

I look at it as a desert for the dogs... I spoil myself w/ a piece of cake or a brownie every now and then. I'll let Jackson have a pig ear every few weeks as a yummy treat Although, he hasn't been interested in the pig ear forover a month now.... picky dog.

Pig ears are, well, pig ears and bully sticks are dried bull/steer penis Consider this...it's like a hot dog at the ball park for us. We love em, but don't really want to know/think about what's in it

| eww thats gross! I wouldnt give Brinks anything I wouldnt eat and I dont eat pork, bull penis, or hotdogs. He seems to like these low fat chicken strips they dont last very long tho I think it only takes him about 15 mins to tear em up. |
