| Home Alone How do I keep me puppy from feeling alone when I'm at work. With my commute, I'm probably gone at least 12 to 13 hours. When I'm home I play, hold, and give her plenty of rubs and hugs for about two hours. When I put her to bed for the night she cries and bang on the door. I feel really bad. What can I do? | I felt that way too when Daisy was a puppy. Our solution was to get another puppy for company.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Unfortunately what helped with Lola, was that I met my boyfriend and he had a doggy too. If you can handle another one, that's probably what works best to beat loneliness I think. I did hear that leaving the tv on, and I would just leave all their toys out, and maybe give them a Kong or something to keep them busy for a while. That's definitely an extremely long time to leave them alone by themselves though, so I would highly recommend trying to find a dog walker/friend or something to take them out. Also, if you can afford it, doggy day care is also another option. My bf rescued his dog from a woman who couldn't take care of him anymore, and she used to leave him for very long periods of time alone. It definitely caught up with him and gave him some very heightened anxiety about being left alone, still to this day. Not to scare you at all, but I would definitely think about having someone come. Good luck!! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I think that will definitely help....still though, is it possible to hire a dog walker, or a friend or a neighbor to take them for a walk while you're gone?? I think that would help a lot! Good luck! Keep us posted -- especially if you get another puppy!! Lucky you... |

| I;m in the same situation as you. what I do is that I leave the light on, because I don't want her to be on the dark at the early nite. I leave her food, water, toys and wee wee pad out. Then, when I get home she comes running to me and I give her like 4 minutes of praising. Then, I play with her or is I'm on the couch she is with me on it. At night she sleeps with me in the room, not in my bed. Even though, before I fall sleep I put her in the bed with me for a few minutes to give her some luv You need to make up for the time u can't be with her, I wish I could come home during my lunch break

| When I have to leave Chloe alone for long periods of time what I do is, leave her out in the whole house, just block off the areas you dont want her in. Make sure all of her toys are out were she can find them and she should be fine through out the day. Also at night, I also tried putting her in her own bed,and that didn't work out too well. Is it possible that she can sleep with you? I cant stand it if Chloe isn't in the bed with me at night. Good luck! |

| Another puppy can be expensive but worth it in the long run. In the mean time try leaving the TV on or some music for your little one. |

| similar situation... I'm also in the same boat with having to leave Buddy alone during the day for about 9 hours. My fiance' is sometimes home a few hours earlier, but it's not consistent. In the morning, Buddy usually cries for us. We keep him in our master bath with a baby gate in the door. He has his food, toys, and bed on one side of the room and pee pad on the other side. We also keep the TV on, but sometimes I think he could care less. Eventually he settles down and just waits for us to get home. It breaks my heart though to hear him cry and try to jump over the gate for us when we leave...since he is only 6 months old. A trainer told me that if he isn't tearing things apart, it's most likely a confidence issue and not so much seperation anxiety. Buddy does sleep with us and when we are home, we play with him for several hours, and we also try to take him with us on errands. We have also considered getting another dog so that he has a company...since right now, his only company is our cat, and although she tolerates him, it's not the same as another dog that he can play with. |

| I will be getting my pup in about 8 weeks here and I plan on going for a walk in the morning (15 minutes or so) and playing with him after I take him out of his create. Coming home at lunch taking him out for an hour and returning after 3 hours and playing with him. I plan on getting him a puppy playpin that is fairly large (on ebay) their awesome!! Leaving toys, and his wee wee pad in their with him. I hope after he is fully potty trained he can sleep with me but until then I want me sure he is in the crate at night for the first little while. I am doing puppy daycare 2 to 3 times a week where he will be active LITERALLY ALLLL DAYYY! Can anyone give some insight about the crating at night?? I just want whats best for his potty training in the long run so he is able to eventually sleep with me!

| I think it would help if she slept with you, also. Katy loves sleeping with us and she doesn't budge all night. We love having her with us.
