| Safe Games My little Santo is my first dog. So I'm just learning how to play with him. But he seems so fragile....! Any suggestions of yorkie safe games?? Thanks! Hannah |

| Hi Hannah! Welcome to YT! I would love to see pictures of little Santo! Well, there's always the old "fetch" standby. You could get some doggie safe bubbles (I know they have them at Petsmart) and let him run and pop them. My husband plays hide and seek with our dogs, and they love to "find" him. They also "sneak up" on each other, and then whoever is being snuck up on runs the other way when they spot the "sneaker". Training him to do tricks is also a great game to play-it helps him learn, teaches him patience and obedience, and is a great way for you to bond. Start with easy ones like "sit, shake, and drop/down". You can increase the difficulty from there! Happy playing!

| Thanks so much for your input - I know it was kind of a simplisic question, but I've just never interacted with an animal that small! I played/tried some of your suggestions today - with great success I can tell he's so happy to be getting that stimulation thanks again!

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | In addition to the ones already suggested, we play "chase". I or my bf will just start running laps around the living room, or running down the hall and into the bedroom. Bella takes of chasing after us sometimes growling at us (she growls like that whenever she's having a blast!! Even when she runs laps around the couch all by herself...we call that her "crazy dog"! She's a wild child sometimes!) Then, we'll turn around and chase her....she LOVES it!!!! She plays chase the exact same way with my aunt's new Yorkie puppy, and she thinks of us as her mom and dad, so we just play like we're dogs too....just be careful if you get in the floor on all 4's to play "rough" with her. She bites even though you don't!!! |
