Question Puppy bored with toys!?!

Hi!
My little Mariah will be 14 wks old on Sat. I would love any ideas on games/toys that your dogs like. Mariah seems to be getting bored with her toys. Is this normal?

My bichon never really "played" with toys. She's more of a cuddler - happiest when she is on our laps. But Mariah is very playful! We have some balls, ropes and stuffed animals. She used to love to play with them but now is not interested at all. I am working with her for a few minutes each night on learning to sit.

Next payday I'm planning on ordering these new toys from Pet Guys:
Kong Puppy Kong & Kong Stuff'nT Puppy Treat Paste
Medium Everlasting Treat Ball & Chicken Flavor Medium Everlasting Treats
Kyjen Hide A Squirrel

Until my order arrives, does anybody have any tips or ideas on how to keep Mariah entertained?

Are there any games, etc. that anyone plays? THANKS!

They do get bored with their toys. I used to hide half of the toys for a month or two and then switch it with the other half that he was playing. Mine loves to play catch and chase game. He loves to run away from me with a toy in his mouth while I pretend to try to catch him. He will also chase me if I run away from him with or without his toy (that is the funny part). We also play hide and seek sometimes with me hiding and him seeking. Hehe its fun but at the end of it, it is tiring for both me and him.

Have you tried a tennis ball? My baby has a Peanut Butter flavored one---she loves it!

just keep rotating them. I read an article that they do not need more than 2 or 3 toys. I give those to her for a few days, then take them away and hide them and give her others. When I give the old ones back she thinks they are new toys.

Chloe loves the Animals that make noises. However I have to watch her because she will dig the noise box out and chew it.

I wouldn't waste your $$$ on the Kong paste. Its so much cheaper and healthier if you fill it up with stuff such as peanut butter and yogurt

Slades favorite toy so far is a motorized ball I bought at WalMart in the pet section, it rolls all different ways and he will chase it for hrs.

Pepper loves her kong, but be sure not to stuff with raisins or grapes the article mentioned fruit cocktail and that has grapes in it. She also likes her pet stages toys.

I bought a kong and my puppy didn't care for it even with a treat inside.

I rotate the toys and she gets all excited after she hasn't seen something for a week or tow and thinks it is new again.

She does have a favorite toy. It's a little white teddy bear and she drags it all over the house and I always keep that out for her because she would miss it so much if I tried to hide it from her.

Whats funny we spend all this money on the little furballs to have fun and then we find out the simple things. I was drinking a bottle of juice with a metal top the other day and Cali dove for it. Its the newest biggest hit of the season. They will chase each other and chew on it for hours. They love the sound there teeth make on the lid. But they also love chasing after a small soccer ball and wear them down!!!!!

Default Thanks!

I really appreciate all the ideas.

That Kong link was AMAZING. I am using all of your ideas.

I also found other posts with these ideas...

Using a water bottle - I took the label off and put her kibble, some treats and cheerios inside. I always break up the treats and cheerios into small pieces...so it seems like there are more of them. I gave this to her and it kept her entertained for a really long time. She loved trying to get the everything out. She was sooo cute dragging the bottle around. She always ate the treats first but eventually would go back and eat the kibble too.

I also took one of her balls and put it in a nylon stocking and tyed knots in it. Suddenly it's a "new toy" and she loved it! LOL!

I always watch her carefully with her "new toys" and don't let her play with them unsupervised.

THANKS everybody for the GREAT ideas!

We just brought Scooter home this week and it seems that his favorites are his Kong with treats and an empty water bottle. I took the label and cap off (afraid that he would swallow it) . He has the best time rolling the bottle around with his nose and when he bites on it, it makes a sound (like a built in squeaker). Too funny!! We spend $$$$$ on them and they like the bottle/box~just like a baby.

Yes, just like a real baby. I use to spend money on toys for my boys and they would rather get in the kitchen cabinet and play with tupperware.

Banjo(before leg injury) loved a empty water, or pop bottle!
He loves his Loofa dog, too- or whatever they call them!
Also I carried a old Bayer asprin bottle in my purse with a few treats for him when we were out- he took that and had a blast with it! The treats rattled in it, of course!
yep, they like simple things!!!

Deiter loves to play hide n seek with his toys. I will put the rope toy in a receiving blanket and just tie it up loosely and he will dig and dig to get it out. He will do this for hours. But that is his fav way to play. His tail goes 100 mph when he sees me putting the toy in the blanket. I have doing this since he was a baby. Good luck
