| It looks like you have nice dogs but I dont understand why you need so much money for your dogs. You seem to use the same line as most breeders "my dogs are champs" or we are "concerned where we place our dogs". I just recently purchased a sweet healthy pup from a local "shop" for $1150. My vet said she was totally healthy and a nice sturdy example of the breed. Where do you get off looking for this HUGE premium??? |

| Shame on you, Brian-- There's no excuse in this day and age for buying a puppy in a pet shop. We all know those puppies are raised in deplorable conditions and you've promoted bad breeding by doing that. As for what I charge, it's none of your business. The people who come here for my puppies know exactly what my breeding is all about and willing to pay for premium quality.

A pet shop puppy will in the end cost way more than even a 3000 dollar puppy from a breeder who health tests and cares about the breed.

I'm not entirely sure what the intention of your post was, bc it doesn't appear like you were wanting a discussion. If you were hoping for a discussion, this wasn't the way to achieve it.

| I was censored here for posting an honest opinion. I feel the asking price is very high. Yorkies are not for profit. We love ours as much as you love the high price tag dogs. They are no better....... |

You say that yorkies are not for profit, but I disagree -- they are very much for profit, unless you go to a reputable breeder. BTW, I have two pet store dogs that are 10 and a dog from a breeder. I will agree with you on one thing - I love my pet store dogs as much as I love my dog from a breeder, but I have not loved spending tens of thousands of dollars on vet care for one of my pet store dogs who was bred by trash in deplorable conditions. I'd never line the pockets of a miller again and hope you will come to feel the same way.

This breeder on the other hand is taking her pups to the vet, supplying food, water, clean pads, clean beds, toys, is paying for shots and if kept longer neuter and bile acid tests. I have paid for spays and neuters, bile acid tests, shots, vet visits and let me tell you, I tried to figure it out financially and I am not sure how she is even doing it, I just don't see her rolling in piles of money over there from these dogs. Most importantly, these dogs are handled by people- kind people not people throwing them from one cage to another- are loved and socialized. I have ZERO tolerance for puppy mills- I DO understand how people still get sucked into backyard breeders, but I can't understand for the life of me, in this day and age how people can still walk into a pet shop and walk out with a puppy- it is no secret that puppies there come from puppy mills and it is no secret, the terrible, terrible conditions they are kept in. The hypocrisy is shocking- supporting disgusting, terrible conditions of puppy mills and at the same time questioning a breeder.

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/2905871-post1.html After having such an experience IMO you should have learned that good breeding is very important to the health of your dog. Purchasing from a pet shop will almost guarantee a poor representation of the breed and many time bring the owner huge medical bills. Reputable breeders never sell to pet shops and breeding for good health as a high priority. It is very concerning that after being a member of this forum for well over a year, purchased a puppy mill dog with Grade 2 LP that you would question price as you did. Have you not read all of the many posts from other members regarding their pet shop purchases and poor health of their puppies? I am offended for the OPer and any members of this board that have purchased healthy Yorkies from MagicGenie. A side by side analysis of pedigrees of your puppy mill dog and one of the puppies in this thread might also help you understand just how misguided you are with your post. My suggestion would be to do more research on the subject of puppy mills and their poor breeding practices. A little research might be eye opening for you and your questionable comparisons.

We've had a few of those lately. Of course, the funniest one was the guy who came on here defending a particular pet store, only to have that store the subject of an undercover investigation a few months later. Busted for buying from puppy mills. Quote:
ETA: The OP does have some gorgeous dogs.

I am responding to your inflamatory question/comment only because I have to hope that your statement was said because you are ignorant and not just an a**. Either way, you are insulting and arrogant. The answer to your question though, would be quality breeding. I happen to have adopted on of magicgenie's pups and did so after much research. I wanted to adopt a yorkie who was looked after and cared for as if they were part of a family so that they would be healthy and have a nice temperment.....not be just locked up in a cage, ignored, handled by strangers and bred from some poor mama who has been locked up in a cage her whole life. I also wanted to adopt a healthy yorkie. At our first appointment, my vet (who I have used for many, many years) was amazed with Trixie's knees and overall health, commenting that she has rarely seen a yorkie puppy without knee problems. My vet comments on how beautiful Trixie's teeth and hair/skin are each time we visit. Good luck with your new pup....I am glad to hear that you got a healthy one. My suggestion to you would be... in the future, keep your negative, unhelpful comments to yourself....it isn't always necessary to share every thought you have in your head..in fact, sometimes the less said, the better. I'm sure you've heard that before.
