Mayme is a liver compromised dog that has some gray-looking tarter on her back teeth. I was going to use petzlife but then read that it may not be safe for her.

Does anyone have an experience with C.E.T Hygiene Rinse?
I've read that some of you have used Maxi Guard for your liver dogs. Does it work well? Also - is the CET rinse and Maxi Guard basically the same products? Or could I use both? I'm a little confused.

Thanks,

Mayme has been pawing at this spot on her head and I noticed this morning that's it really red. It's about the size of the tip of your pinky finger. She had a reaction to her rabies shot on Sunday and I hadn't noticed any more red skin from the reaction until today when I found that spot on her head right above her right eye today.

Before her rabies shot I had noticed an extremely red spot on the center of the back of her neck which since giving her benedryl for the past 5 days after the reaction has basically gone away. She has been biting at her rear end alot and scratching her neck/licking paws ALOT lately. All of which the benedryl cleared up.

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this or know what it might be. I don't believe it's from the reaction to rabies because I had noticed the spot on the back of her neck before she had the shot. So, I'm thinking the one on her head is related.

I'm in the process of switching vets, so she doesn't have an appointment until next Friday. I panic any time something is out of the norm with her.....so it anyone has any ideas i'd greatly appreciate them.

Can you please tell me what brands you are feeding your pets and whether or not your dogs have runny eyes and if you have to use something to clear it up (angel eyes, ACV, etc)
Im asking because my 2 little dogs have had massive runny eyes recently. (within the month) and Im relating it to thier food. They have had minor eye drainage on and off but now its really bad. My toy poodle gets runny eyes from any dog food product that has corn in it, so we obviously dont feed her anything with corn. I had them on Merricks, (they LOVED this food and Im very sad that they cant have it anymore) thats when their eyes were staining bad, along with red staining on thier feet, faces, and around the pooper. (even though they didnt poop a "red" colored poo :confused:). Currently I have them switched to evangers pheasant and brown rice dry foods, (not their canned) and IM using angel eyes and when they will eat it yogurt to hopefully clear up the problem some. It doesnt seem to be helping much, but Ive only made the food switch 2ish weeks ago (along with adding the yogurt and angel eyes) and I know that it may take longer than that to get the old food out of their systems., but I need other food options just in case the Evangers doesnt help with the problem or they stop eating it (they have a history of this :rolleyes:) My dogs dont tolerate a "super high" protien diet and Im not willing to feed anything at this time made by diamond foods (because of the fish preservative they use). Thanks to everyone who took the time to post..:D

Other than RX hills, royal canin or Purina ; which good human grade food is best for pancreatitis; that is low in protein and fat

ava got really sick yesterday and i had to take her to the hospital; she was vomiting a lot and some blood in the vomit; they did blood test and her amylase enzymes was high; her white blood cell counts was low and i believe her platelets was low too; i don’t have the papers with me; i will get them today when i pick her up from the hospital. she was diagnosed with pancreatitis because of the amylase high levels. so now i don’t know if she has both gastritis and pancreatitis. anyway i spoke to the vet today; ava is on IV fluids and they will prescribe prescription diet for pancreatitis; i am assuming royal canin which can have meal and by products so i am not sure what to do;
i had ava on the honest kitchen which is a pretty good food; but sometimes when she doesn’t eat breakfast i give her baby food; and maybe that's what triggered the pancreatitis.
so what should i do about the RX diet royal canin; what if she doesn’t eat it; she's very picky eater. any suggestions?
should i put her on royal canin for a while and then switch her back to the honest kitchen;
or should i give her chicken and rice for a while instead?

thanks much

Hi:

I got my baby 3 weeks ago almost a month and since then she's been eating Science Diet because a friend of mine gave me some samples. She never like it the only way she eat it was mixing the dry food with some wet. Now the food it's finished and I decided to buy Beneful dry only because I can't afford expensive foods that anyway she didn't like it. And she doesn't eat it either. I don't know what to do. Is that ok to mix the dry food with wet?

Thanks :confused:

Does anyone feed this? I got a sample today of the adult small breed formula. It says its a Regional Formula with Free-run chicken, pacific salmon and fresh whole eggs. I was going to switch the kids from Natural Balance to Nature's Variety. Only thing is the only place I can get NV is in a nearby city. I was supposed to be going tomorrow, but plans change and I won't be able to go now until next month. The local pet and feed, sells Natural Balance and Acana. They are currently out of the small breed NB. It is too hard for Tila and Mika to eat the regular sized NB. They do not know when they are getting any more NB small bites in either. But they do have Acana. So if anyone knows anything about this one or if you feed it, please tell me about it. Thanks. I need to feed them something, they have some NB left, it will be enough for me to switch them over. But I'd feel a bit better about hearing about Acana from ya'll. Thanks.

the puppy i just adopted is so sweet. he was living in the country with a lady who needed to rehome him. he's a good dog, and wants nothing more than to please me. and i feel soooo badly. i found some fleas on him the other day, and then i found some ticks! that part kind of flipped me out. i've never dealt with anything like ticks before. i had a cat once who had fleas, and they don't scare me like the ticks do.

i just got pet insurance for him with careguard, and it won't take into effect for another 2 weeks. :( i've been trying the past few days to deal with it myself. i did olive oil, and got a few off in that bath... then i got the adam's spray and got a few more off with that. it doesn't seem like they're attaching, just crawling around. but his poodley fur was so thick, and so like a big dork, i cut his hair. he looks like he got caught in the food processor, then i sprayed again, and got a few more.
and now, i think it's not going to be able to hold off the 2 weeks. he's still itching, and i saw another tick crawling on him again.

no matter what, it's going to cost me more. i could spend the money on the frontline at the store, or pay to take him to the vets without the insurance. sigh. he probably will need to be vaxed again, because the lady said she got her shots from the pet store and doesn't have any record, so i can't go to a groomer either. sigh. i'll let you know what happens, i'm going to have my hubbie call the vet and ask their advice. i just wish i could have waited until i had the insurance, then i could just take him in and the vet visit with vacs and checkup, and stuff would be covered.

i adore this puppy, and i'm really glad i adopted him. i'm ready for this ordeal to be over though. i want my cuddlebaby back again, and i just can't bring myself to cuddle with him as much, knowing that he's got this problem.

We will be going in for Lolli's spay soon and would like to know besides a general "check-up", what should I request to have done for Lolli? Some people when speaking on spay/neuter surgery say you should have a blood panel done, is that necessary or just if some symptoms of something are present? Is there anything else I should consider? Thank you!

Hopefully we can get all of this done, we just had to shell out a lot of finances for a funeral and on top of that in FL they just passed some new law that if your dog is not spay or neutered and not licensed it will cost more to get them licensed if not fixed (they will be able to catch people who do not register their dog/cat/ferret through the rabies vaccinations as they are also required by law and you will be required to purchase a license WITH the vaccinations or the vet is required by law to report that you did not purchase a license), active in 2010, so we have to be sure to do this before the new year. Really bad timing too, since Christmas and all. So hopefully we can do this in a reasonable amount of budget.

I was researching some of the links in the sticky for vet bill assistance but I don't think I really qualify for any of it.

          Polo went to the Vet about a month a go. And I was so excited to see how much he weighed. He had not been weighed since I got him so the lady comes out and tells me Polo weighs a whopping 4.3 pounds. I had thought he was at least 5lbs so my question is
Will Polo gain anymore weight? (he is one)
I also switched his food he now eats Orijen , Acana Pacifica, and Acana Grasslands

does anyone know when Yorkies stop growing?
I was just hoping that he would get to at least 5lbs:(
