I just have a basic soft bristle brush for my 12 week old Yorkie but its not getting the small matts out. The matts are forming in the woolly bits of his puppy coat. I brush him daily, but I have had to pick them out with my fingers. I have a metal comb I used to use for my old cat but havent used that as I dont want to pull him.

What should I use?

Hello all,

Just found this great site. Myself and my parents have had yorkies for many years now. At the moment my Mum and Dad have Ford, a little boy who is 2 1/2 years old now and I have Shelby and she is 7 months old (I am a car nut hence the names) :p

Shelby (7 months old) is the black one and Ford (2 1/2 years old) is grey.

However I have a question about my little devils...

Now I always thought there were only two types of Yorkie. Minature and Standard (please correct me if wrong). I have always thought that Ford was a Standard but you might be able to tell from the pics that Shelby is slightly larger than him. I have had them both on the scales and Ford is 7lbs with the hefty Shelby weighing in at 12lbs  She is a thicker set dog and her legs are a lot thicker than Fords.

Can anyone tell me is this normal? She is not fat and is only 7 months old. I also thought she might have lost her colour by now?

Cheers

I tend to watch Strictly & catch up on X Factor on the digi repeats if I get time though not seen much of it this time.
I do like the charity record they're doing for Great Ormond Street though, but only caught a bit of it on Alan Titchmarsh.

I'm not finding Strictly as interesting this time though, except when people power kicks in like this week. :D

xx

I tried posting this in off topics but no response; hopefully someone can shed some insight here. thanks

lately i have been thinking a lot about moving to a new country. I have been living in NJ, USA for over 15 years and I need a change. I wanted to hear some feedback from people who lived in the UK or any other country; to give me an idea if it's better to live in other countries; is there are jobs, how's everyday pace and are the people nice......

any feedback about any country is welcome!
Thanks much. :)

Just wondered if anyone has come across any de-tangler hair products in the UK? Seems to be lots in the US looking at the threads, but I haven't seen (well I haven't looked really) for anything locally.
Belle's coat is changing and to old and new hair is getting in a mess, she is getting groomed this week, but I don't want them to think she is neglected :)

My old Toby passed away on 31/7/09 & I now have my new Toby. He will soon be 6 months old & is the love of my life. We have been going to puppy training classes for the last 6 weeks & have now acheived the kennel club puppy foundation assesment award. He is so much like my old Toby, we keep on telling him that he has a hard act to follow, but up till now he is doing very well. We are going on holiday on sunday & Toby has to go in kennels for a week, I will miss him so much, but I know he will be very well looked after. We love him so much, never thought I could love another yorkie as much as my old Toby!:aimeeyork
