So today my mom asked me something. We have 4 pets right now (2 cats, 1 dog and a bunny) and I love them all really much. So the question is: "If you could only keep one pet which one would it be?" My answer of course was "MY DOG!!". But I am now asking you to tell me (i know it is hard but consider all your pets' personalities etc) which one you would keep.

PS: Hypothetically of course!!

Toby is 10 months
Got Maisie on Sunday and she is 11 weeks.

They are getting on great most of the time, playing and chasing each other.
Toby was very territorial for the first two days, not letting Maisie near his food, bed or toys.
Now she can take the toys off him, and can growl at him if he tries to take it off her.
He also warns her off at times, when she tries to take toys off him.

I know they will sort the pecking order out themselves, and the trainer has said to leave them to it, and try not to intervene.

Sometimes though, he will get really aggressive towards her, more than a warning. He jumps on her, barking viciously. I am pretty sure he is making contact. My husband lifted Toby up to break them up, and Toby had a grip of Maisie at that stage.

I am not leaving together unsupervised, but I am worried that he will hurt her.

Is this normal, how long will it last, and what should I do about it??

I'm not on the board that much and didn't even realize that there was a problem until I pm'd administration and asked about her. I sent her a personal check for a bag on 8/28/09 and we chatted back and forth.

On 10/17/09 she pm'd me and said the bags were in and that I would get it shortly. She also said she'd been having personal problems and was sorry for the delay.

Well I still don't have it and doubt now that I ever will. I don't want to cause any trouble and no one need reply to this thread unless you have a contact number or email for her. I did have an email that she gave me on 10/17 and have emailed her several times but to no avail.

Thanks for any help. Weezie aka Connie

Well the vet confirmed it and has shown me how to express the milk and I am dying of laughter. She 's been looking like a cow and now I have to milk her. My DH says "Do we get a machine for this" LOL. She's been a nesting freak for months now.

Sorry that I have not been on the boards to much. Things have been crazy here the last few weeks. November 5th my 5 year old niece had surgery, she is doing great!! I have been here with her ever since. I will be back to normal next week ( I hope) lol...

I also wanted to let you all know that Nicky is doing great, he LOVES hanigng out at "Aunt Nina's house" lol... I actually have two questions for you all...

1. Nicky is under weight, I can tell because I can REALLY feel his ribs when I am petting him and giving him lovin. Thing is he is eating but he just doesn't seem as pudgy as he once was. Could it be that he is loosig his baby fat? He will be a year old on the 7th of next month. Should I get him special food or something to help him gain weight?

2. I talked to my vet and he said that he has worked (neutered) little dogs before but it is VERY risky. Which made me tell him no that I would wait to get him fixed. Rocky Nicky's "Older brother"is getting fixed on Monday the 23rd. Should I seek out a vet that specializes in small animal neutering or just let it go? UGH

A frustrated pet mama

thanks for your advise, LOVE to hear what you all say, it is greatly appriciated!!

I figured I will get more responses here because it's the first place everyone reads!!
It's about Lucky...His eyes has been watery for some time now, in my opinion, more than I would call normal. I am feeding him TOTW for maybe 4 mths now, so I don't think that's it. I am checking his eyes many times through the day and there is absolutely nothing in them! Not for me to see anyway! They don't seem to be bothering him at all....not a bit! They bother me more...lol
I keep them clean with a cloth rinsed with warm water and I dry them from tears many times through the day. What I am wondering about is sometimes when I wipe them instead of them being just clear fluid it sometimes had a pinkish tint to the tears. Ii don't know if it's from the staining on his eyes or the actual tears! It looks like he is constantly crying...lol other than the wet eyes he is full of energy and his poop is normal, he has no change in appitite! I am at a loss for solutions ....I have just about every book that's been written on Yorkie Care and health issues....the only thing I am gathering from the reading is a problem with his Tear Lakes being too small causing an overflow! I have been doing the ACV in his water for 3 days now....if there's no change soon I am going to take him to the vet!!

Any advice would be very helpful~ Thanks so much.......

i was wondering if dogs grew out of being nervous, or getting sick during car rides.
so many times, i just have little places to go, like picking up/dropping off up my son and my hubbie from school and work.
i bought a seatbelt attachement for his harness, and i've taken Smokey with us a couple times so far. i just wonder if his nervousness will wear off, and if he'll start enjoying it. he hates being away from me, and i thought it would be nice just to have him with us. what do you all think?

today was the only time he got sick in the car, so i don't think it's going to be common for him. it's been a stressfull few days for him. :animal36

I had no luck with the Chamber of Commerce office in South Padre (no response to my inquiry) and we won't be in San Antonio more than a couple of days but thought I'd throw it in anyway. (I haven't written SA Chamber.)

We primarily wanted to know if there are any restaurants with outside patios in December where we can eat and take Taffy.

I know this is a longshot but thought I'd try!

TIA regardless,

we were going on our morning walks and i noticed this lady with a pitbull walking towards us. i pulled kingston to the side, being that he's only 5 pounds. as we were crossing paths, the pitbull somehow managed to lunge over to our side and grabbed kingston by the neck!

i was so frightened and mad at the same time! i couldn't believe what was happening. i was pulling kingston's body away from the pitbull, while he still had him by the neck with his paws. i didn't care if the pitbull bit me, i was more concerned about the life of my kingston.

the whole time this was happening, kingston was screaming as if to say, "daddy, help me!" i finally managed to get him free. while this was all happening, not once did the lady try to do anything. i asked her if she knew her dog would do this. her response was, "my dog didn't hurt your dog, if anything your dog was just scared."

bullsh*t! i was so pissed, i walked away and went straight home. i checked up on kingston and i noticed his eyes are bloodshot. i don't know if the pitbull got his eye because everything happened so fast. could this be due to him being frightened?

i'm so upset right now!

:)Toby does the oddest thing. In my hometown there is a Petsmart and Home Depot in close proximity to one another.Sometimes I go to both places on one trip and frequently take Toby. Of course he is allowed in Petsmart and Home Depot does'nt mind as long as I keep him in the shopping cart which I do anyway. He loves to ride in the cart placing his paws on the edge so he can look out. When we are at Petsmart he will allow anyone in the store to come over and pet him and is the sweetest boy in the world. However, when we are in Home Depot he barks and raises cain at ANYONE that even attempts to come over to us.I can only guess that he is more comfortable in Petsmart because to him the whole place probablly smeels like one giant dog.
