| England- Breeders? Hi I am from the northwest of england (Merseyside) and was wondering if anyone knows of any standard sized yorkie (the larger ones) breeders near me? I currently have a labradoodle Buddy, but he is having to be re-homed by a lovely couple down south as he is too strong for my mum who has very bad shoulder problems, and its not fair on him to expect to wait for me to come in from school before he goes for a walk Before Buddy we had a standard yorkie called Buster- He was lovely, but he died unfortunatley of an enlarged heart and eventually had kidney failure as a result. Becuase of this, we are interested in researching breeders in advanced, so we can get things sorted etc and research more about yorkies in general so we are up to scratch. Firstly- we wanted to know which people prefer Bitches or Dogs? We usually have Dogs, but we have heard Bitches can be more loyal than Dogs.. Also- would you suggest a pair or a single dog/bitch? and if we do pick a pair- is it wise to get 2 bitches, 2 dogs, or a dog and a bitch? (Of course we will get them spayed neutered) Josh |

| Also try looking on Pet Plans website http://www.petplan.co.uk/community/findapet.asp It's being updated at the moment but it should be up and running again soon...you put in your details of what you're looking for and they email you a list of breeders in the area you want....you can contact the Petplan Breeder Line on 0800 072 4411 for a list of breeders in your area while you're waiting for the site to work again. | have you thought about getting a rescue yorkie? i have 3 yorkies and one of mine is a rescue, shes the best well behaved dog i have, shes never been ill in the year and a half that i have had her. if you ring around some of the rescues in your area they will phone you when a yorkie comes in. ive had male and female yorkies and would say there is not much of a difference with them. ive had 2 males together, 2 females together and a female and male together but i would say most of the time a female and a male gets on best. i help out on a site called www.alfieslostterriers.com and they have a rescue rehoming forum and sometimes have yorkies on there. |
