| I have to fly with my baby question? My husband is in the military an we are in Germany right now ,but we are going to visit our family in a few days I am taking my little girl with me has anyone ever flown with a dog? Im not sure if I should get her a purse or a dog carrier. She is going on the plane with us. How do I take her to potty on a plane? do I use puppy pads or what? This is my first so im a little off on everything. |

Okay, it is best to have a pet carrier that is airline approved. With this in mind, you know there will be netting on both sides so she won't feel to enclosed. She will know you are just right there with her, especially since for the most part she will be under the seat (unless you can sneak her out which I did). As far as potty training, it all depends on how long your baby can hold her pee. With her sitting for the most part of the flight, she probably would NOT need to go (at least Annika didn't since she can hold her pee for 8 hours if needed. Now she is used to going on a pee pad but going through a women's bathroom can be a nightmare since there will be no privacy and she would not be able to go easily due to distraction. I highly suggest you find a family restroom so you can have the entire restroom to yourself. That is what I did and it kept Annika within the confines of the room and with nobody around but me, she went on the pad like she was right at home Hope this is helpful . . and good luck to your baby's first plane ride

I have the Sherpa carrier . . .they are pretty sturdy yet NOT hard plastic. If you google Sherpa carrier, you will get a whole lot of choices. I got one that fits about 6-8 pounds I think so Annika was quite comfortable in it (she's about 4.9 lbs).

| For a long overseas flight I would try to find something as roomy and comfy possible (Sherpa's ARE great bags for that). Maybe one for up to 15 lbs?

| You do have to make sure they are airline approved from what I have read. You should go to the airlines website and see what it says

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Bring some Nutrical, because flights can be stressful for little dogs. Be prepared for anything when it comes to flight attendants. You are not allowed to put the carrier on your lap (a great way to calm down your pup), but some of them pretend not to see if you're sly about it and cover the carrier with a blanket. Same for the restroom. I don't believe you're allowed to take them in there, but I've done it. That's where I put the pee pad down.
