| Yorkshire Terrier In The Snow Hi can you tell me if it is safe to walk my yorkshire terrier in the snow, and if so how long do you recommend. When we have been out her paws are covered in snow and she hates been dried off with a towel. Thank you |

| Welcome to YT! Have you tried little waterproof dog shoes? That might help keep her paws dry.

| It really depends on the dog. First, make sure that he/she is warm. Yorkies don't have the layers of hair that some other breeds have, and can get quite cold in the snow. Usually, a good fleece or water-proof coat will ensure that your little guy/girl will stay warm. Then, snow boots might be a good added measure. I don't know about where you are, but here in the U.S. where I live (DC) snow is usually followed by copious amounts of salt/ice melt, which is really bad for doggy paws. I use Neopaws, which I get from Canada; they are some of the best dog boots on the market. If you don't use booties, make sure to clean your dogs' paws really well when you get inside, and apply some paw salve to prevent cracking.
