| We need Help Please!! Hello everybody.. Please I need help from anyone in UK as I donīt know the Law here or how to act. 4 months ago we bought a puppy from a pet shop in London but the puppy died 5 days later, we have the receipts from the vet and the pet shop. The Pet shop promised us another puppy but until now we are still waiting. Now the time is passing by and we really would like our money back but the pet shop refuses to do that. Waiting months and months for a puppy is our only option or we can make them give our money back? we appreciate any help thanks Monica |

| What does your receipt say? Normally their return/refund policy is on the receipt, although the laws may be different over there than here in the states...

YT 500 Club Member | I'm sorry your going through this, I dont know how the law stands but if you brought your pup from a shop I shouls hope the same rules apply as for any other type of purchace. Unfirtunatly its recently been revealed that many of these big stores that sell puppies are being supplied to the store by puppy farmers. Just like everywhere else these poor babies are churned out for profit. |

| Sorry you had this experience and that you are still going through it. Did you get a contract of any kind? What evidence do you have on the receipt other than the amount paid? Did you get any insurance at all started on your pup? Even a free cover? Things you can start to do:- Contact your local citizen's advice bureau, they have advisors on legal matters - not sure if they cover this. But they are free...it won't cost anything to ask. Speak to your vet, they may have experience of dealing with this sort of thing. Apart from that I have no idea, I didn't even think you could still buy from pet stores anymore in the UK.... Good luck |

We got in touch with Trading Standards a Gov. Institute. As we donīt have a specific Law for pets they are treated as goods... I have to send a letter to the pet shop asking for the money back and they have 15 days to answer, but this might start a 'battle' between us. For now the Pet shop wants to help, replacing the dog and paying for the vet bill of Ģ200. The problem is to find a Yorkie as beautiful as the one I bought. Sunday we are gonna take a look at the new puppies and see. We had an insurance for him but they cover for illness only after 15 days have passed and he got ill on the 5th day. Other than that we have a receipt proving that we purchased the dog there among with vaccination card and Pedigree. I hope we can solve this matter soon. We have our baby on the way and I don't want to have a newborn baby and a young puppy at the same time... | |

I would not replace the puppy but get your money back..you will probably end up going through this heartache again and by buying another pet shop puppy you are just supporting these puppy farms If you really want another puppy then find a Reputable, experienced breeder...many of us here will be happy to help you find one. very sorry for what youhave gone though..I hope you stick around on here..so much information..I have learnt so much since being on here! goodluck. | Hi I am so very sorry for your loss, I agree with the other comments, I would think very carefully about them giving you another puppy, as the same thing could happen again. I would get the money back as everyone says Citizens advice bureau and Trading Standards would be the way to go, I would telephone them both asap and see what help and advise they can offer. Again I am very sorry that this has happened, it is just awful.
