| Where to find a Tiny Teacup in UK? Hi, Me and my husband are looking for a tiny yorkie, not bigger than 3lb when adult, but it looks impossible to find a real one. We tried loads of ads in UK and when we visit the dog it's nothing what they are saying.. We were thinking about bringing one from USA but we couldn't find any breeder that would be able to do that (not counting the price ). We live in Egham, South East from London. Please, anyone can help us? thanks |

| It is not responsible for a) breeder to advertise they sell "teacups" since that is only a term for extrememly small dogs that can have health issues and b) A breeder should not be trying for dogs under 3 lbs and i can't IAMGINE a breeder shipping a dog that is going to be under 3 lbs. |

| I agree with marcerella.. The breeders that breed specifically for tinies have no concern for their dogs health, they are just concerned with lining their pockets.. they are breeding tiny females..I couldn't imagine a girl as little as mine having puppies!...they usually have very poor health when bred this way..and you will only end up with heart ache as I said in the other thread...do your research..look for the hobby show breeders that occasionally find they get a smaller puppy..then hopefully you will find the smaller yorkie that you want so much..and most importantly a healthy one!! GOODLUCK!

| I also agree with the others - it is really not responsible to breed 'teacup Yorkies' I know they look very cute, but they can and do suffer so many health issues and you need to be so careful with them. For example, they can easily break their ribs or legs, falling off a bed and I heard of someone stepping on theirs and it died a terrible death. Tootsy is a normal healthy size and I find I have frequently just stopped myself stepping on her. She would be unlikely to die from it, but a teacup would. It is a real commitment to care for one of these tiny dogs. Someone I met who had one said that it was like caring for a premature baby. Your vet bills may be higher than with a normal size Yorkie, so you need to keep that in mind, too. Remember, you will become so attached to the little dog and if it has a short life, due to it's health issues or an accident, you are going to be heartbroken. You will be far better off with a normal size Yorkie and you will find them just as cute, believe me. They have such sweet natures and are so loving and adorable. They steal your heart away in no time at all. Yvonne |

| Hi, tiny ones are the most beautiful dogs, I believe. My sister has two now. 2,0 and 2,5 they are amazing, 4 years old and both perfectly healthy. I understand that some breeders are really irresponsible and breed dogs with diseases and they don't care. Sorry, but this happen with small dogs or big dogs. I always had yorkshire and I am talking of 25 years around them. Never big ones, always small 2,5lb. 3lb. 3,5lb ones. my family too. our old one has 14 years(2,5lb) and doing well because she came for a good breeder and always had excellent quality food. Unfortunately none of them where bought in UK otherwise my problem was solved. Vets - never expended loads of money, normal expenses. You need to take care when walking around them as you take care around a child. But you are right having a tiny one is not for anyone. They require more attention, care, caution and more love. And these is what I love about them. Quote:

| Well if anyone has the experience of caring for a teacup, it must be you! I accept what you say. I still would prefer that these fashion size dogs were not bred. If you want a tiny one then I would personally go to a hobby show breeder, as kezza says, who happens to have a tiny one, who needs the good home you can so obviously give it. This is just my opinion. How long have you been in the UK? Are you here for good? I do hope you are happy here. Wishing you all the best in your search. Yvonne. |

| Hiya I have a very small yorkie called Valentino and i too wanted a tiny (teacup yorkie) but found in here people dont like you ti use that term. My boy i got from a breeder in my town and he is only 2.8kg which yes is really nice but comes with a lot of health problems. He has a callaped tracker (can not spell) which when he plays on pull he has breathing fits. which we all have to live with. If you can get one with no problems then great. if you have any questions please feel free to ask me xx

| I have two normal sized Yorkies, and they are great fun to play and walk with. They are wonderful companions, and very loving. I can still dress them with coats and jumpers. (I did get them Santa suits and all -in - one pyjamas at Christmas, they were very indignant lol) I can't imagine why anyone would help unscrupulous breeders make money, because, if no-one was to buy these poor little babies, there would be no demand for them. These despicable breeders would be put out of business for good. |

My Pixie IS a tiny, and some would probably describe her as a 'Teacup'..she didn't come from an 'unscrupulous breeder'..she came from a Hobby show breeder that just happened to get a tiny in one of her litters..so she sold her to me as a pet...and a much loved and cherished one she is too! I have never tried to hide the fact that I looked for a smaller yorkie..I know I can take good care of one..and I knew that the best place to find one was from a reputable hobby show breeder that DOES NOT breed specifically for tinies...

| Before, I decided on Max for our first baby, I did a lot of research. I was generally agreed on various forums and on various internet sites that there is no such thing as a Tiny/Teacup Yorkie, and that the very small Yorkies are indeed the runts of a litter. I have no doubt in my mind that you love your furbaby, but it isn't natural for these little babies to be so small. The majority of these small babies have lots of health problems, and perhaps these can be treated, but is it really responsible to ignore the fact that they might have to suffer, so that some one can have a "Tiny". "she came from a Hobby show breeder that just happened to get a tiny in one of her litters..so she sold her to me as a pet...and a much loved and cherished one she is too!" I truly don't mean to offend anyone, I just think it's our duty to educate ourselves, if we are going to be responsible Pets for our little masters. |

No offence taken...I think i'm just getting a little tired of the 'Tinies' getting so much criticism...and most YT'ers complain that its the larger yorkies that usually get a hard time! I think the little ones are just as much in the firing line! We all love our babies no matter what size and shape they are! I personally don't like the word 'Runt' as it is usually (in my personal experience) used in a derogatory way...like 'Rodent' or 'Rat' which I have heard far too many times when out with my baby...I now put it down to pure jealousy and ignorance...I have a very pretty and gorgeous little girl (not biased much!) that attracts attention everywhere we go...and perhaps some people don't like that? ...and no, i'm not an attention seeker..im actually a very shy and retiring girl that likes to avoid being in the spotlight..so sometimes the attention can be uncomfortable! And as for health problems...not all the little ones are riddled with them..some of the larger yorkies have their fair share of problems too. Just because my Pixie is a little one she is not 'suffering' because of it, she's a very happy and bouncy little girl and 100% 'natural'!..I agree, and we all know, that there ARE irresponsible breeders out there that ARE breeding specifically for tinies..and that IS wrong, because they are breeding tiny females with no care for their health and well being..only caring to line their own pocket...but not ALL breeders do this..ocassionally the show breeder will get a smaller baby that will not be used for showing or breeding..and that baby will need a loving forever home like the others..I personally like the smaller yorkies..I see nothing wrong with that..I HAD educated myself beforehand..and I knew that a reputable, experienced and responsible breeder was the way to go and I would have waited as long as it took to find the right one and not rush off to the nearest 'Teacup' breeder to get one...I joined YT when I had an elderly 14 year old yorkie girl, this place supported me in my grief and then educated me in my search for that next special baby. Kindest Regards as always, Kerry & Pixie.

| Hi there, as for a tiny I think you may just have to see if someone has one by default ,as in thier litter has a really small pup in it. Get to know a good reputable breeder and they may let you know when such a little pup comes along but there id no guarantee that they will stay extra small and you may have a long wait , but dont set your heart on a certain size. I have had yorkies of all sizes and loved each and everyone for their character not their size. You could always try the rescue sites in the UK I have seen some really adorable yorkies on there of all sizes including tiny ones.

| I think, like humans, you may find that even a pup that starts off small, may reach a bigger weight in adulthood. You will love any Yorkie you are lucky enough to have in your life. It's easy to find a breeder in the UK and talk with them to establish if they know what they are doing and you will get a happy, healthy pup. |

YT 2000 Club Member | When we went to the breeder and got Jasmine, we didn't know what size she would be as an adult.........and still don't. But, we fell in love with her immediately. So if she grows large or stays small she is still part of our family. She went in for her 12 wk checkup yesterday and she was 1 lb and 8 ounces. She is a sweetie, full of energy and brings joy to everyone that sees her!
