Default Where Is Everyone?!!

Hi there

I am beginning to think I am all alone on this forum!! LOL!

Seriously though I feel that we must all make a real effort to make this site work, so that more people will join. We could all share much more than we do, I think. For example, I am wanting to knit a jersey for my furbaby and if anyone wants the pattern they may pm me if they wish. I am trying to find the right wool and I also want to alter it a bit. Once I am finished knitting it, I will definitely show you all the result, good or bad (promise). The reason I bring this up is that I hadn't thought of sharing this on the forum until I started writing this! Perhaps many of us do this kind of thing? I am sure we could do as well as our US cousins if we tried. We really need this forum to share sites/ shops/vets/ groomers/food/treats/ and other things that we are able to get in the UK and the rest of Europe.

Doesn't the US site just makes you drool?!!! They are so much better off than we are, as there seems to be a bigger market for Yorkie related items, dvds, books, health foods, treats, clothing etc. The cost of shipping it over is simply prohibitive so we really should try and share with each other whenever we find anything good on this side of the pond.

If there are any skilled sewers and needlework people who want to start supplying us with items eg like the silk harnesses (that someone on the US site makes beautifully) I am sure we would buy them. (She also makes dogbeds and krackle toys and liver treats.) We must try and find members who are talented in these areas who would enjoy making these things for us. If the product is well made and value for money I am quite sure we would be love to support our members in this way rather than the big stores.

I am making an effort not to just go straight to the US site, as there is so many more posts, but to come to our site first.

These are just my feelings and I hope you don't mind me expressing them. I would love our site to be active and full of information etc. We would all get so much out of it.

Luv

Thanks so much for your reply, Kezza. Now there are two of us willing to make the effort. Let's hope more people will try to be more active on the forum. It would be real help to all of us. I know how tempting it is to put most of your posts on the US forum, as you get a lot of replies and good ideas. BUT, we can do this, too! Perhaps we could make a start by placing posts on both sites and then we can discuss which reply is best for the particular situation, on our site. Or we could discuss something we read on the US site that we felt was really helpful, just to get the ball rolling. Perhaps you or others have some better ideas to encourage posts?

I am not saying that we shouldn't enjoy the US site, of course not, just not to ignore our forum so that it slowly dies.

Thanks again for your support, Kessa.

I have posted quite alot on here in the past but got few responses, I still come here though every now and again to see if there are any new posts, most of the UK members go straight to the main site too, as i think everyone does to be honest, I tend to come here if i need to find out something that can only be bought or found in the UK.

Just thought I would say a Big Hello to you all.

I also keep popping in this part but as you say there is very little posting here.

I shall make an effort to keep coming this way.

We definitely need more UK members. C'mon, tell a friend!

One of the problems with your posts getting lost is the time difference. Your posts fall out of the "new posts" list before we even see them.

I hadn't thought of the time difference! That does make it difficult. Thanks for supporting this forum despite this problem.

At least some of us are going to make an effort and maybe more will join us. Perhaps we could put a post on the US site asking the UK and other European members to support this forum, as well as the US one? I love the US forum, but I do want to get this one going as it will be so helpful with regard to local suppliers of goods, vets etc.

I think it's great that we should try to get this board a bit more active.

When I was really new on here, i posted a thread asking if it was always so quiet & the first reply was asking me if I was being sarcastic!
Here's the link to it if you want to read it....

Quiet?

Others later replied in a bit friendlier vein, but I must admit I was a bit upset at the time. Anyway, I think it's great if we can help each other more, especially with finding stuff here in the UK. The tips on the American site are brilliant, but it's hard to take some of them up when you can't get all the products.
xx

Excellent idea, Kezza. I didn't know about the European section when I first joined, then I noticed 'regional' at the top of the page and thought I would have a look. I almost didn't notice the European site, listed at the bottom, for some reason. Perhaps this is happening to lots of others, too.

Hello All,
I just dropped in to say hi, look at the furbaby pictures and wish you luck getting more people to join your group.

Since I stopped in I'll give a little history of JD(jack daniels) my 8 year old Yorkie, he's my third one, first one was Martini, and second one was Moulson. Was a family thing to name after drinks.. some people would tease on picking such names! JD does a Yearly Calendar for family every year and is quite the poser. Check out my name on Yorkie Talk to see more shots of him if you'd like. He's 5 pds. and quite the spoiled pup, 3 beds, one for each level in my townhouse!!

Okay off to bed for me, up at 4 a.m. it's snowing here, and I'm hoping the roads aren't too bad for work tomorrow.. good luck again, ginger

Hello,

I've not been part of YT for very long as I haven't even picked up my pup yet! He's 6 weeks on Tuesday , I'm picking him up when he's 8 weeks.

Here's a few UK tips for you,

Free dog trat samples from a new doggy shop in blackpool who make home-baked dog cookies! it's £1 for the postage but worth a try, I got some but I've got nodoggy to try them out on yet!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FREE-DOG-TREAT...QQcmdZViewItem

CUTE! Hand made puppy fleece, with ears! made in USA but pre-imported so cheap, if that one's a bit bright they have them in other colours too!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gorgeous-handm...QQcmdZViewItem

For those spoiled little pups out there!! Gourmet dog treats handmade in devon, including birthday cakes!
http://www.klassycaninebakery.co.uk/...roducts_id=510

And for the grand finale...... madaboutyorkis.co.uk, as well as providing some wonderful items, plus some rather expensive and downright bizarre ones, it also provides pet portraits, no price on this one but what a wonderful gift! Site seems to be in construction but I'm sure you can email with any requests or price questions, have alook at,
http://www.madaboutyorkies.co.uk/petportraits.htm

I think I'll also post this as another thread in the Europe forum, that way anyone with other ideas can post along with me.

Lisa (and Rufus!)
