Thanks guys, for all these replies. I will definitely try and find Squirt Spray and Shine and I will look around the local antique shops etc. for the brushes. Thanks for these tips, Meggie. I did wonder if my brush was part of the problem. Last night I used a nylon brush with the bobble ends and she found this much more comfortable. It was easier to get out the tangles, but still took ages as I have to be so careful not to tug and hurt her. The Spray and Shine sounds like it is just what I need. I could spray each little tuft, as you say.

Oh dear, I am not sure what to do about the Pantene now! I was going to get some today. I might try it anyway as a few of you recommended it, so obviously haven't had any problems with it. I will just keep looking out for a dog hair conditioner that works.

I've heard about the PH in human things not being right but I've never found it a problem with conditioner. I don't use human shampoo often on the yorkies, though I do on my Skyes, who need muddy feet washing most days up here!

If you want a good dog conditioner, there's one I've used in the past, bit awkward for me to get now. Can't remember the exact name, but I bought it from one of those big pet stores, Pets At Home I think. It was in a tall bottle, flattish, like squashed back to front, & it said on the front it was for long silky coats. It was like a pearlised pale pink, creamy liquid. There was a complete range of shampoos & conditioners in the same bottles. Sorry, not much help eh? But it did work well, it's just I don't get down to big shopping places much.

Thanks , Meggie, I'll have a look for that. I have found a place online where I can buy the Spritz Spray & Shine. I see that Spritz also make a conditioner and leave in conditioner - have you ever tried these?

I use vellus products and I really love it ! especialy static stabilizer because it makes easier to brush coat

This week I tried using some Shaw's Royal Coatalin.
It's an old tin that I had in from using on my bigger dogs. It's a really old established product & a bit odd to use if you're not used to it as it's a solid block in a tin, looks a bit like a tin of clear shoe polish

The best way is just to dab the end of the bristles of your brush on the block then brush it into the coat.

I must say it's worked a treat! Their coats are lovely, glossy & silky. I thought it might have made them a bit greasy but it hasn't at all.
It's really economical as well as a tin lasts ages.

I have never seen that product. I am always on the lookout for something to make Tootsy's coat shine that doesn't have silicone in it. Thanks for this rec.

the company called Plush Puppy are very helpful and their products are excellent for shiny coats and dematting coats Their website is www.plushpuppy.co.uk and if you contact them I am sure you will be pleased.my dogs are shown so coat condition is important.

Thanks for the rec. Chellbe45. I have now got Vet Solutions Aloe and Oatmeal Shampoo, Chris Christensen Day by Day conditioner and Ice on Ice detangler. Her coat is shiny at last! Nevertheless, I will try the other ones that have been recommended just in case they are even better. Have to wait until these are finished, though!

Thats okay honey let me know how you get one, with what i use Tino`s coat is really shinny and soft, but he hates looking clean and and brushed. After i have brushed him he jumps onto the bed or sofa and rubs till he goes messy again lol
