| Picking up our Tampa soon, had some questions. Hello! :> We're going to be picking up Tampa soon and we have a few questions. Here's some info. 1: Tampa is a boy 2: He's about 7 weeks now "Seen here with Cynthia" I've had various breeds in my family over the years, never a Yorkie. At what age is it ok to take them out for a walk. "start training them to go for walks" and what type of harness do we use? One for a cat? "considering the size of him". As you can imagine, we've read allot about this breed, but... Felt it best to ask those who have Yorkies. We are located in Toronto, Canada. What type of food do they like, brand's... What type of toy's do they prefer... etc..etc.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, we're looking to get your comments based on your experiences. :> Thanks sooooooooooooo much! Tampa Stone, Cynthia and Derek |

| suggestions I found my yorkie likes toys that she can play tug of war with. She never plays with kongs and rarely with any balls. Her favourite toy is a rag (I find this out after I spend tons of $$ on toys), I tie it up, put a treat in it and she has a great time pulling the knot apart and gettting to the treat. She also loves empty water bottles. I sometimes put a treat or two in them and she shuffles it around the house until she knocks them out. He box of toys hardly ever get used. In doggie school the instructor said that terriers like ropes, pulling toys etc.. I found she was right. She also has a favourite stuffy cow. It's got a squeaker in the head and she knows it's name and fetches it when asked. She picks it out of the pile of toys. She also knows steak (a rubber steak that squeaks) and ball. She can tell the diff between them all. I feed her Royal Cannin for yorkies. The Breeder sent her home with it and I've kept her on it. She doesn't play with toys on her own. But loves to play with us. She loves belly rubs (not at first). She will come up on the couch and turn over and if your ignoring her, she'll move right onto your hand and turn over. She's so cute. She's always hungry and ready to do something for a treat (I put aside a portion of her food for treats and on occasion give her a biscuit). I use a pee pee mat for emergency or when I leave the house. She goes outside unless she calls and we are not there to open the door. Works like a charm. Good Luck. |
