Default Canadians Are Too Quiet!

I know there are many other interesting threads on YorkieTslk, but surely there are other Canadians out there that may wish to communicate with each other. I am south of Ottawa, and would appreciate some contacts-others with Yorkies- just for information, perhaps meeting, etc. Kia, my brat, is presently enduring treatment for an eye injury; she was attacked by a larger dog, and had her eye displaced. I am still hoping and praying that she does not lose the whole eye; losing the sight would be bad enough and is, unfortunately, likely to happen. She is feeling better, still putting the horses in their places and today, went after a cat that had the upper hand last week. (The cat is a rescue and has four two-week old kittens and therefore, is defensive.)

Does anyone know of a veterinary opthamologist near the Ottawa area? For various reasons, I would like at least one other opinion about Kia's eye.

Also-looking for a companion/playmate for Kia; under ten pounds, age not too important, as long as it likes to play. I live on a disability income, and cannot afford a puppy, but could put something towards spaying/neutering/adoption, etc.
I hope that others write....

My to stay indoors. Reggie has chronic asthma and the cold makes his lungs act up. Already I notice his breathing is getting raspy, and that is just form the fall air moving in. I have a feeling he will be back on his meds in a few weeks.
Other then that they have a nice little collection of sweaters and coats to keep them warm on their occasionally outings.

Good luck with a second opinion. I think you are very wise to do that. I hope she is able to keep her eye, but non the less her spirts still seem on the up and up if she is chasing and putting other pets in their place!!

I'm from Canada, but I'm out west! Maybe there's a small dog meet-up group by you? I know there's one here!

One of my dogs only has one eye, she's beautiful. I hope Kia's okay!

Hey, I have been a member and a browser for quite some time..oh my gosh I just realized there is a Canadian site here..I am so pleased..

You stated in your first message that you are looking to hook up possibly and although the information is great here, I was jealous that all these people who had Yorkies were hooking up and we were too far away..

I use to live South of Ottawa (Hunt Club) but now I am in Gatineau which is about 20-25 minute car ride away..

So if your still interested in getting our fur babies together, send me a message and we can hook up and hopefully get a group together..

I am so happy to find this Canadian site...

Cookie is excited too...

Default Thank you Canadians-And Others

As I said, we are too quiet. However, I have not posted for quite a while, so I am hoist on my own petard!
Thank you for giving me the opthamologists' contacts-I had Kia into Ottawa last week, and David Tinsley, DVM, gave her a good check-up. The result is that at this time, Kia's eye is fine to be left in. Her eyelid is still stitched, but as the eye is still healing, it is best to keep it so. She has lost the sight in her left eye-the retina is detached-but the eye itself is healthy, and if all goes well, will not have to be removed!

Now, I need more help. I am trying to find a companion for Kia; I would prefer a Yorkie, of course, but am on a limited income, and cannot afford over a thousand dollars-or more! I do have a chance for a four year old bitch, after she weans her next litter, but that will be six months or more from now. Also, I am not sure if another Kia would be happy with another female her age. I would hate to wait for six months, then find out that the two will not get along. Does anyone know of a Yorkie looking for a good home? I am fully prepared to pay for one, hopefully an amount I can raise, and will definitely neuter/spay what I get. I am home most of the time, as I am on a disability and do not work, have excellent veterinarians, etc, and will supply references, of course. I live rurally, walk my dogs all over the countryside, am fanatical about feeds, care, training, etc, and hope to do some Obedience and Rally-O trials with my next Yorkie, as I do with Kia, when possible. My main criteria are; a) dog seven pounds or less-but not smaller than four, b) healthy, c) playful and d)acceptable to Kia. Kia is very playful, loves other dogs, cats, horses, children, and knows that she is the 'center of the universe'.
If anyone has any suggestions at all, I would appreciate hearing them. I have tried a Yorkie rescue, but have not had a reply from them. I have also contacted as many breeders as I could, as well as checking all various rescues, ads, posts, etc.

The photos show Kia, in her alternate job. Isn't she a lovely mother?

Hi Lila,
I'm in GTA area and we had a meetup last Sunday. It was at a foster's home and she had many yorkies to adopt and others waiting for foster homes.
PM me if you're interested to learn more.
